Former striker Kevin Davies on Chesterfield’s relegation fight
Kevin Davies was part of the Chesterfield team which progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1997. After impressing during a short stint at Southampton, Blackburn splashed out a then-club record £7.5million for his services in 1998. Davies returned to Saints a year later and, following a brief loan spell at Millwall, joined Bolton, where he spent 10 years, scoring 84 times in 407 appearances. Davies’ last team was Preston, retiring in 2015, and he also won one cap for England at the age of 33 – as a substitute against Montenegro in 2010.
