Premier League Golden Boot odds: Erling Haaland clear front-runner despite poor form

Erling Haaland is the clear favourite in bwin’s Premier League Golden Boot odds, despite his recent poor run of form.

The Norwegian striker is leading the goal scoring charts in the Premier League, at the time of writing, with 20 goals in 26 games. However, Haaland has only found of the back of the net four times over the last two months in domestic club football, leading some to question his form.

Despite only having scored one more goal in the league than Ollie Watkins, who many view as the country’s most in-form striker, Haaland is still seen by the bookies as the clear front-runner in the Premier League Golden Boot race.

As we enter the final few games of the season, bwin takes you through the five favourites in the Premier League Golden Boot race, starting with the favourite Haaland.

Premier League Golden Boot race – The favourites

Erling Haaland – 20 goals

Erling Haaland is as short as 2/5 with bwin to win back-to-back Golden Boots in the Premier League, with Man City now having just six games left before the end of the 2023/24 season.

City are coming off the back of a tremendously positive weekend, where after beating Luton 5-1 on Saturday, they were able to watch on while title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal lost to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.

They’re now two points clear at the top of the Premier League, and have a relatively easy run-in with their remaining games, which is why not only does bwin have them as favourites to win the 2023/24 campaign, but also has Haaland as the clear front-runner to end the season as top goalscorer.

Ollie Watkins – 19 goals

Ollie Watkins (4/1) is having a truly incredible season with Aston Villa, and if Unai Emery’s side do manage to make it into the Champions League next season, the former Brentford striker will be one of the main reasons why. He’s also firmly put himself in the mix for an England call-up in the Euro 2024 squad, which is set to be announced in a matter of weeks.

He’s scored 19 goals so far this season, just one fewer than Haaland, who many fans and pundits view as not only one of the best strikers in the Premier League right now, but one of the greatest number nines the country has ever seen.

Villa have a relatively difficult run-in, which sees them play Liverpool in their penultimate game of the season. The bookies do feel as if Haaland is the favourite, but Watkins could surprise a few and at 4/1, could definitely be worth a punt.

Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke & Alexander Isak – 17 goals

Taking up the rest of the top five in the goal scoring charts are Mohamed Salah (10/1), Alexander Isak (12/1) and Dominic Solanke (20/1), all of whom have scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season, just one fewer than top goalscorer Erling Haaland.

Three goals isn’t a great deal by any means, but with just six games left to be played, the bookies clearly feel as if Salah, Solanke and Isak have left it slightly too late to make a real charge at Haaland and even Watkins, explaining why they’re slightly further away in the Premier League Golden Boot race odds.

Premier League Golden Boot race – Best of the rest

  2. Heung-min Son – 25/1 – 15 goals
  3. Bukayo Saka – 66/1 – 14 goals
  4. Phil Foden – 66/1 – 14 goals
