Stoke vs Sheff Utd: Blades to stay sharp for final test

Kick-off: 1230, 05/05/2019

Stadium: Bet365 Stadium

TV: Sky Sports

Sheffield United are fancied to celebrate their promotion to the Premier League by closing the season on a high note with victory at Stoke.

The Blades still have an outside chance of winning the Championship title on goal difference, if they beat the Potters and Norwich lose at Aston Villa.

That should spur United on and 11/10 for an away triumph is our opening Stoke vs Sheff Utd prediction.

A Look At Stoke City’s Betting Odds

Admittedly, Stoke have been tough to beat at this venue recently, posting a win and five draws here since last tasting defeat in front of their own fans.

City twice came from behind to share the spoils with leaders Norwich on Easter Monday and also picked up a point from a goalless stalemate at Millwall a week ago.

That was their 21st draw of the season and a sixth 0-0 in 2019, with Benik Afobe and James McClean squandering fine first-half chances, while the latter also hit the bar.

Nathan Jones said: “We knew a few games ago now we weren’t going to be in the promotion picture, which is disappointing, but it has afforded me the opportunity to work on things and evaluate the squad for the future.

“I am proud of the fact we are only playing for pride and trying to finish well for our fans, and we have come to another difficult place, played against a side with everything to play for and performed well.”

Stoke have suffered six home defeats, though, and seem to be vulnerable when facing teams who like to play on the front foot.

Looking at the Stoke vs Sheff Utd odds, we’re taking 17/4 for this to be a draw at half-time and then the Blades to prevail.

A Look At Sheffield United’s Betting Odds

United followed up Easter wins over Nottingham Forest and Hull by easing past Ipswich 2-0 at Bramall Lane, before their promotion was confirmed when Leeds could only draw against Aston Villa.

Chris Wilder is not the type to rest on his laurels, though, and declared: “At the moment, we’re the second best team in the division and we’re going to try and be the best next Sunday.”

Billy Sharp has fired in 23 Championship goals this term and gave another insight into how Wilder has led them to the promised land.

The striker added: “The gaffer’s the best manager in the club’s history, the fans will definitely agree with me – two promotions in three seasons to get us back to the Premiership.

“The lads have been absolutely superb and it’s because the gaffer’s driven us on every single day.”

Those do not seem like the words of two men who will settle for second best and we’re backing the Blades to keep fighting for top spot.

Let’s add 33/4 for a 2-1 away win to our Stoke vs Sheff Utd betting tips.
