Steve Bruce was under pressure after Aston Villa’s poor start to the season but eight goals in the last two games has got their campaign up and running.
Last weekend’s 4-2 win against Norwich was followed by a 4-1 victory over Wigan in the EFL Cup and now they go to Ashton Gate looking to maintain that momentum.
We’re expecting the goals to flow again and the first of our Bristol City vs Aston Villa betting predictions is for Villa to win and both teams to score at odds of 5/1.
A Look At Bristol City’s Betting Odds
City have produced plenty of entertainment for their fans so far this season, with both teams scoring in their opening three games until last weekend’s goalless draw with Millwall.
The goals flowed again on Tuesday night when City caused an upset in the EFL Cup with a 3-2 victory at Watford and four of their six matches in all competitions have featured at least four goals.
With that in mind, we think over 3.5 goals at 5/2 looks good value.
A Look At Aston Villa’s Betting Odds
Villa started the season as favourites for a return to the Premier League but back-to-back defeats at Cardiff and Reading put Bruce under pressure, having been held at home to Hull on the opening weekend.
The win against Norwich was much needed and Bruce believes there is much more reason for optimism than early results suggested.
“We were close to blowing Hull away in the first game and we were very close to blowing these away,” he said after the Norwich game.
“It just shows you how quickly this club can lurch into a crisis, after a week. What has been going around is nonsense. I’ve got the nucleus of a decent team. We’re young. And thankfully, under pressure, they’ve performed really well. We could have scored another four, if truth be known.”
Villa are yet to keep a clean sheet despite the arrival of John Terry from Chelsea but have plenty of threat going forward, with Conor Hourihane scoring a hat-trick from midfield last week and Scott Hogan bagging a brace on Tuesday.
We’re looking for big odds with our final Bristol City vs Aston Villa betting tip and are going for Villa to win 3-2, 4-2, 4-3 or 5-1 at 37/2.
