Barcelona have not found El Madrigal an easy place to visit for the last couple of seasons and we’re backing Villarreal to pick up another positive result from Sunday’s LaLiga clash.
The Catalan giants only just managed to snatch a point here in January thanks to Lionel Messi’s stoppage-time equaliser.
Villarreal showed great spirit to come back from 2-0 down at half-time and secure a share of the spoils the previous March.
A Look At Villarreal’s Betting Odds
Villarreal do have to raise their game after losing two straight LaLiga matches and going down 1-0 at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League on Thursday.
However, the Yellow Submarines can be forgiven for that latest reversal as they had already wrapped up top spot in Group A.
On the domestic front, it has been a case of late collapses costing Javier Calleja’s side dear.
Villarreal were 2-0 up against Sevilla after 53 minutes but eventually went down 3-2 following a 78th-minute penalty.
They also led after an hour at Leganes, only to conceded three times in the last 18 minutes.
However, they are still reasonably well placed in sixth and have generally been strong at El Madrigal, picking up four wins and a draw from five LaLiga games here before that Sevilla defeat.
A Look At Barcelona’s Betting Odds
Barcelona cruised through their Champions League group, finishing off with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday after already being confirmed as table toppers with a round of fixtures to go.
However, they had previously settled for away draws at Olympiakos and Juventus and have also dropped a few points in LaLiga of late.
Barca needed an 80th-minute Jordi Alba equaliser to earn a share of the spoils at Valencia and were held to a 2-2 stalemate at home to Celta Vigo last weekend.
Although still five points clear at the summit, the early-season swagger has definitely slipped away a touch.
