Sunderland vs Leeds: Black Cats to build on solid start

Odds: Sunderland 7/5, Draw 12/5, Leeds 9/5

Sunderland and Leeds are both unbeaten this season but we have been more impressed by the Black Cats going into their Championship clash at the Stadium of Light.

Simon Grayson looked to have a big job on his hands after taking over last term’s Premier League basement dwellers but has quickly steadied the ship on Wearside.

This is another tough early challenge, but we’re on the hosts to come out on top at 7/5 in our Sunderland vs Leeds betting predictions.

A Look At Sunderland’s Betting Odds

Sunderland were a touch unfortunate not to follow up their excellent 3-1 triumph at Norwich by also beating Sheffield Wednesday on the road in midweek.

The Black Cats dominated the first 70 minutes at Hillsborough and should have had more to show for their superiority than George Honeyman’s fourth-minute strike.

Lewis Grabban, Brendan Galloway and James Vaughan all missed chances to extend the lead before David Jones scored a screamer for the Owls, who then had the better of the closing exchanges.

“If we had taken the chances, we would have won the game,” said Grayson. “We were comfortable up until they scored the goal, and that got their tails up and we found it difficult.

“But if you ask any manger after three league games to be unbeaten and still in the cup they would take it, especially as we have had a difficult start.”

This should be another tight contest, but we like 3/1 for the Black Cats to prevail by a one-goal margin in our Sunderland vs Leeds betting tips.

A Look At Leeds United’s Betting Odds

Leeds have also picked up five points out of nine under new boss Thomas Christiansen, but we’re not quite as convinced by their form so far.

Since scrambling a 3-2 win at relegation favourites Bolton, United have had two goalless draws at home to Preston and Fulham, with Christiansen admitting: “We need to be a bit more dangerous up front.”

Reports linking last season’s Championship Golden Boot hero Chris Wood with a move to Burnley won’t help to reverse that trend and this could be a good time to take Leeds on.

United started slowly on Tuesday night, so 29/10 for the Black Cats to be leading at half-time and full-time stands out from the Sunderland vs Leeds odds.
