Vancouver face a tough test when entertaining high-flying Los Angeles at BC Place but could benefit from having sat out the midweek round of fixtures.
The Whitecaps have also been very solid at home this season and are currently on a five-match unbeaten run in front of their own fans.
With the visitors picking up 13 points from the last 15 available, this has all the makings of being a hard-fought affair.
We reckon 3.6 for a draw is a value bet with our first Vancouver Whitecaps vs Los Angeles FC prediction.
Vancouver Whitecaps Odds
Vancouver were beaten 3-1 away to LAFC in March, despite taking the lead, but 15 of their 21 points have come on home turf.
Their form figures at BC Place read DWLWDWWD following Monday’s goalless stalemate with New England here.
The Revs went closest to breaking the deadlock that night when hitting the bar but the Whitecaps matched them in terms of shots on goal.
Six of their 16 attempts were on target and Dorde Petrovic had to be alert to keep out several long-range efforts, as well as denying Lucas Cavallini from a tight angle late on.
Although currently 11th in the Western Conference, Vancouver are only two points adrift of Seattle in seventh.
A lack of goals is worrying but 7.25 for a 1-1 draw here appeals from the Vancouver Whitecaps vs Los Angeles FC odds.
Los Angeles FC Odds
Admittedly, LAFC are 15 points further up the table in first place following Wednesday’s 3-1 home win over Dallas.
Steve Cherundolo’s side backed up the news international stars Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini will soon join their ranks with a fine display.
Daniel Musovski finished off a superb counter-attack to open the scoring on 23 minutes but the visitors were level at the break through Jesus Ferreira.
Maxime Crepeau was expecting his free-kick from 30 yards out to be crossed into the box and was caught out when it instead floated over him and into the net.
Thankfully for Crepeau, the keeper’s blushes were spared by a couple of excellent second-half strikes.
Cristian Arango deftly capped off another lovely break from deep to score for a fourth straight appearance.
Promising Ghanaian youngster Kwadwo Opoku then fired in a late thunderbolt to make it four wins out of five and put LAFC seven points clear in the Supporters’ Shield standings.
Plenty of punters will stay on the Los Angeles bandwagon here but this will be their third game in a week, having previously worn down New York Red Bulls late on, also at Banc of California Stadium.
Throw in a long journey to British Columbia and fatigue could prove a factor, so let’s add 13.5 for the visitors to lead at half-time but then draw to our Vancouver Whitecaps vs Los Angeles FC betting tips.
