The richest game in football is here again, with Brentford in it for the second season in a row after their Championship play-off final defeat to Fulham a year ago.
They lost two of their best players in the aftermath but have bounced back sufficiently and now face old foes Swansea, themselves looking for a Premier League return after a three-year absence, in a re-run of last year’s semi-final.
The Bees won that and look worthy favourites again, so 20/23 for them to get the job done in normal time is our first Brentford vs Swansea prediction.
A Look At Brentford’s Betting Odds
When Brentford lost the first leg of their semi-final to Bournemouth and then fell a goal behind early in the second, it looked as if accusations of choking would be thrown at Thomas Frank’s men again.
However, an Ivan Toney penalty got them back in the game quickly and further goals from Vitaly Janelt and Marcus Forss meant they were able to book their Wembley slot.
“The message to the players was we need a top performance from them, and we also needed a top performance from the fans, and we got that,” said Frank, who admitted losing his cool as tensions rose on the touchline.
“We have achieved something big and we know the ultimate is to win on Saturday. There is a long, long way before we are across the line.”
Both meeting between the two this season have been 1-1 draws, but with Brentford having scored 23 goals more in the regular season, with 79 compared to 56, it would be a shock if they do not do the business.
Looking at the Swansea vs Brentford odds, we like the Bees to oblige 3-1 at 16/1.
Last Brentford line-up: Raya, Dalsgaard, Jansson, Pinnock, Rasmussen, Jensen, Janelt, Canos, Marcondes, Toney, Mbeumo.
A Look At Swansea’s Betting Odds
Swansea came through a tough semi-final against Barnsley, hanging on for dear life at the end of the second leg, where a 1-1 draw earned them a 2-1 victory overall.
Six wins from their last 16 games saw Swansea have to settle for the play-offs, rather than challenge for the top two, as had been looking like the case for the first half of the season, but in winning their semi-final they know they are back on the right track.
“You’ve seen the journey of this football club, not just the two years I’ve been here,” boss Steve Cooper said after Barnsley were beaten.
“It’s a unique one and this is another chapter. But it’s not finished, we’ve got another one next week.
“It was a privilege to be in the stadium, with the fans having been away, and getting to Wembley.”
If Swansea are to make the promised land, they will not only have to keep Brentford’s rampant forward line quiet, but also find a way to score themselves.
Whether an open contest will suit them remains to be seen, though, and we prefer 15/4 for the Bees to win and both teams to score for our Brentford vs Swansea betting tips.
Last Swansea line-up: Woodman, Naughton, Cabango, Guehi, Bidwell, Fulton, Grimes, Hourihane, Ayew, Routledge, Lowe.
