Preston will travel to Leeds in good spirits on Boxing Day and we feel it may be worth backing the visitors to get something out of this game.
North End have picked up seven points from their last three Championship matches, while United are coming off a couple of patchy performances.
Punters can get 19/10 for Alex Neil’s side to avoid defeat and that is our opening Leeds vs Preston prediction.
A Look At Leeds United’s Betting Odds
Leeds looked to be cruising towards automatic promotion when securing seven straight victories, but nothing ever seems to continue going smoothly for the Yorkshire outfit.
United then blew a 3-0 lead when drawing with Cardiff at Elland Road, before suffering a first defeat since early October when going down 2-1 at Fulham.
Patrick Bamford cancelled out Aleksandar Mitrovic’s early spot-kick at Craven Cottage, but Josh Onomah then grabbed the deciding goal on 69 minutes.
Marcelo Bielsa refused to be too downbeat, stating: “They scored from a corner and from a penalty. They had just one more chance.
“We had seven or eight chances to win the match and we defend very well, because we played against great attackers.”
However, this will be a little test of character for second-placed Leeds after seeing the gap cut between them and the chasing pack.
Looking at the Leeds vs Preston odds, we think this could be a cagey contest early on and like 27/20 for the scores to be level at half-time.
A Look At Preston North End’s Betting Odds
Preston have recovered well from a run of four consecutive defeats, claiming two wins and a draw from their last three matches.
There are also obvious form lines from those games which compare favourably with the recent efforts of Leeds, as North End beat Fulham 2-1 and drew 0-0 away to Cardiff.
The Lancashire side should really have picked up maximum points again in Wales on Saturday, having had 16 attempts on goal, while City only managed three.
Sean Maguire, Billy Bodin and Alan Browne all missed chances to break the deadlock.
Neil declared: “Everybody who watched the game would have recognised we were far the better team, Cardiff didn’t have a shot on target.
“We had great opportunities, we dominated the game, had more of the ball and better chances, it was just that final bit.”
Preston are nine points behind Leeds in fifth but look well placed to at least finish in the play-offs and have already drawn 1-1 with United at Deepdale this term.
Let’s finish off our Leeds vs Preston betting tips by taking 33/4 for a repeat of that scoreline at Elland Road.
