With a squad packed full of Premier League pedigree and ‘Big’ Sam Allardyce at the helm, West Ham were many people’s pre-season picks for promotion. However, this being the Championship, things are rarely that simple.
It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for the Irons so far and glimpses of their quality against Watford and Cardiff have been laced with regular reminders of their inadequacies.
Their last four league games have seen them pick up just one win and after a two-week hiatus for international duty, a visit from Blackpool would not have been high on the agenda.
