Derby to beat Preston @ 87/100
County put a poor run of results behind them when beating Barnsley 2-1 on Saturday and the feeling is that they can now kick on again and get back to the form which made them promotion candidates for much of the season. Preston are without a win in five away games following a 3-1 defeat at Fulham over the weekend and lost at home to the Rams back in August.
Huddersfield to beat Aston Villa @ 91/100
The Terriers did not enjoy the rub of the green when going down 3-1 at home to Newcastle on Saturday, with Town dominating possession and applying plenty of pressure going forward. David Wagner thinks they can bounce back immediately, stating: “We can leave this result behind us very quickly. There are some very smart and intelligent players in the dressing room and they know we were very unlucky.” Villa have won three straight but this is a much stiffer test.
Sheffield Wednesday to beat Burton @ 13/20
The Owls should be brimming with confidence again after Saturday’s 5-1 thrashing of Norwich at Hillsborough, with January recruit Jordan Rhodes coming good as he bagged a brace and manager Carlos Carvalhal hailing it as “the best performance of the season”. Burton have battled hard for a hat-trick of draws but scored just one goal in those games.
Walsall to beat Chesterfield @ 3/4
The Saddlers made it five straight wins at Bescot Stadium when finishing strongly to beat Oldham 2-0 on Saturday. The visitors may have had two men sent off that day, but the end result still made it an impressive 13 goals netted and just three conceded in that hot streak on home turf. Chesterfield ended a seven-match winless run by prevailing 1-0 at Swindon over the weekend but generally struggle up front.
Plymouth to beat Blackpool @ Evens
Argyle’s form has been a touch up-and-down of late but there was plenty to like about the way they beat fellow promotion hopefuls Carlisle 2-0 on Saturday and the Pilgrims can close to within a point of leaders Doncaster if following up here. Plymouth prevailed 1-0 at Bloomfield Road back in August and are fancied to confirm that superiority.
