Vancouver return home following a couple of decent away draws and will look to get back to winning ways when entertaining Chicago.
The Whitecaps have secured five of this season’s seven MLS victories at BC Place, while the Fire have lost seven of 10 on the road and were beaten on their last two visits to this venue.
Punters can get 2.25 for a home win and we’re taking that for our opening Vancouver Whitecaps vs Chicago Fire prediction.
Vancouver Whitecaps Odds
Vancouver came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Cincinnati and then also earned a share of the spoils at Portland last weekend.
Brian White headed in a superb Ryan Raposo cross on 32 minutes at Providence Park and it took a fine double save from Aljaz Ivacic to deny them a second straight after the interval.
At the other end, 20-year-old Whitecaps keeper Isaac Boehmer made some excellent stops on his first start until a soft penalty late on allowed the Timber to equalise.
Academy product Boehmer was named in the MLS Team of the Week as he ably deputised for the injured Cody Cropper.
Vanni Sartini’s side will now seek to further enhance a solid home record.
Vancouver, who are 10th in the Western Conference and just one point off a play-off place, have prevailed by just a one-goal margin in six of their wins this term.
Looking at the Vancouver Whitecaps vs Chicago Fire odds, we like 4.0 for them to add to that tally here.
Chicago Fire Odds
Chicago have rekindled their hopes of making the post-season with back-to-back home wins, leaving them 12th in the East and four points off seventh spot.
Jhon Duran bagged both goals in a 2-0 triumph over Toronto at Soldier Field before a 23rd-minute Rafael Czichos strike proved enough to see off Seattle.
That made it four victories in seven outings and Ezra Hendrickson is eyeing a place in the play-offs.
The rookie head coach commented: “Now we’re there, within striking distance.
“We just have to maintain this type of performance. Stick within the game plan and we’ll be fine, we’ll be successful.
“And they believe in that. They believe when we talk to them and when we tell them, and they believe in what it is that we’re doing.”
However, the resurgent Fire still have to prove they can do it on the road, having picked up only one point from their last eight away matches.
This fixture has also been a tough one for Chicago, who have tasted defeat in four of six head-to-head meetings, winning just once.
Let’s add 9.0 for a 2-1 home victory to our Vancouver Whitecaps vs Chicago Fire betting tips.
