Kick-off: 1500 EST, 21/05/2022

Toronto upset DC United 2-1 at BMO Field earlier this season but head into the return fixture in Washington on a miserable run of results.

The Reds have suffered five straight MLS defeats, failing to score in the last three of those losses, with injuries and suspensions taking a toll.

We’re going with 2.6 for a home win and under 3.5 goals as our first DC United vs Toronto FC prediction.

DC United Odds

DC United suffered a 2-0 loss to New York City at this venue in midweek but played better than the scoreline suggests in an entertaining encounter.

City secured victory thanks to a well-worked early corner and a penalty awarded via VAR on the stroke of half-time.

However, United hit the woodwork twice through Brad Smith and Sofiane Djeffal, while Taxiarchis Fountas fired just wide late on.

Sean Johnson also made a couple of solid saves for the visitors, so there was no lack of effort or endeavour.

DC had beaten Houston and New England in their previous two home games, with Fountas netting four of the five goals scored.

Charlotte also left Audi Field empty handed this term and United were ahead at half-time and full-time in all three home wins.

Looking at the DC United vs Toronto FC odds, it is 2.37 for that bet to come in again this weekend.

Toronto FC Odds

Toronto’s last match summed up their luck at the moment, with Kyle Smith heading in the only goal of the game in injury time for Orlando.

That followed a similarly heart-breaking 1-0 loss at Vancouver, when Tosaint Ricketts grabbed a last-gasp decider.

Goalkeeper Alex Bono said: “That’s two games in a row now where we’ve had legitimate chances to have shutouts…it keeps me up at night.”

Alejandro Pozuelo was the latest injury victim after pulling out in the build-up and having to make changes is hurting the Reds.

“We’ve caught the bug a bit more than other teams at this point in the season,” added Bono on the club website.

“But one thing I will say about today is that guys who are called upon came on and did their jobs.

“For a long stretch of that game, we had the better chances, we had a pretty good run of the play, defended really well.”

The Reds will continue to battle on but we’re adding 3.7 for a home win by any one-goal margin to our DC United vs Toronto FC betting tips.
