Moldova vs Scotland: Scots to wrap up second place

Kick-off: 1700, 12/11/2021

Stadium: Zimbru Stadium

Scotland will be going all out to secure a fifth straight Group F win and clinch a place in the World Cup play-offs by beating Moldova in Chisinau.

Steve Clarke is no doubt keen to avoid having to get anything out of their final fixture versus runaway pool leaders Denmark.

With their opponents languishing at the foot of the table, 14/5 for an away win by exactly a two-goal margin is our first Moldova vs Scotland prediction.

Moldova’s Betting Odds

Moldova picked up the only point of their campaign when drawing 1-1 with Faroe Islands at this venue back in March.

Since then, they have suffered seven consecutive defeats, with 23 goals conceded in those matches and just three scored.

To be fair, a 12-0 aggregate loss from two encounters with Denmark does have a big negative impact on those figures.

Elsewhere, Moldova only lost by a one-goal margin when visiting Scotland, Israel and Faroe Islands.

At home, though, they have gone down 4-1 to Israel and 2-0 to Austria, so the Scots really should have little to fear here.

Roberto Bordin’s side have a nasty habit of conceding in the run-up to half-time, so 165/100 for an away goal between 30:01 minutes and the interval appeals from the Moldova vs Scotland odds.

Scotland’s Betting Odds

Scotland were on the ropes when September’s 2-0 loss in Denmark meant they had only beaten Faroes Islands from their first four outings in this pool.

However, they went on to claim 1-0 wins over Moldova at Hampden Park and Austria in Vienna during that international break.

Last month brought a crucial 3-2 home victory over Israel and a nervy 1-0 success when visiting the Faroes.

Former head coach Craig Levein believes fresh memories of qualifying for Euro 2020 can now help Scotland wrap up second place.

He said: “It’s an exciting week. These situations are for looking forward to, particularly against the background of qualifying for the previous tournament.

“That gives the players and coaching staff an idea of what to expect.

“I’m sure they’ll have learned a lot from what they did in the Euros qualifiers and they can put that to good use in these qualifiers coming up.

“I think we’ve got a lot of really good attacking players and there’s quite a good balance to the team. We’re in a good position.”

Let’s add 9/2 for a 2-0 away win to our Moldova vs Scotland betting tips.
