Manchester City and Chelsea face a quick FA Cup rematch following the Citizens’ 1-0 Premier League win at Stamford Bridge.
Pep Guardiola’s side earlier prevailed 2-0 when these teams met in the EFL Cup in November and we’re sticking with the repeat option, rather than revenge.
Punters can get 13/10 for a home win to nil and that is our first Man City vs Chelsea prediction.
Manchester City Odds
City won both of last season’s league encounters 1-0 as well, giving them four clean-sheet victories over Chelsea since losing the 2021 Champions League final against them.
Thursday’s clash was a lacklustre affair but City livened up more after making a number of second-half substitutions.
Two players who came off the bench teamed up for the crucial goal, with Jack Grealish putting in a lovely cross for Riyad Mahrez to poke in at the far post.
“I am a genius,” joked Guardiola, who had brought that pair on just three minutes earlier.
“The first half was sloppy,” added the Spaniard. “We didn’t create much, our pressing was so poor we were not well organised, but in the second half, we were better.”
City are still fighting for silverware on all four fronts and their insatiable hunger for success seems as strong as ever.
With home advantage here, we’re going with 16/5 for them to oblige by a two-goal margin in our Man City vs Chelsea betting tips.
Chelsea Odds
Chelsea’s season is in danger of falling apart, with a mounting injury list making things even more difficult for Graham Potter.
They have now lost four of their last six Premier League fixtures and were fortunate to escape with a 1-1 draw from last Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
Already without six players, including Reece James and Mason Mount, Potter had to contend with Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic limping off early on Thursday.
The former Brighton boss tried to remain upbeat, stating: “I thought there was a lot right today, the performance level was good against a top side. There was a lot to like.
“Is our form good enough? Points wise, no. It’s hard for me to argue against that.
“But the margins and the situation, for me it’s about how we play and analysing how we can improve. We took a step forward today.”
The last four defeats against City have all been goalless at half-time and Chelsea may again be competitive for a while here.
However, we reckon Man City vs Chelsea odds.
