England need a win in Italy to boost their chances of avoiding relegation from Nations League Group A3 and are fancied to achieve that feat.

The Three Lions looked tired during the summer fixtures but will be much fresher now and can edge out an Azzurri outfit lacking strength in depth.

Punters can get 33/20 for an away victory and that is our initial Italy vs England prediction.

Italy Odds

Italy famously shaded England in a penalty shoot-out to claim Euro 2020 glory but then missed out on qualifying for the World Cup for the second straight time.

Roberto Mancini reacted by embarking on a rebuilding process and will have been happy with how things started in this pool.

The Azzurri drew 1-1 with Germany before beating Hungary 2-1 and then grinding out a goalless stalemate with the Three Lions in Wolverhampton.

However, much of that good work was undone by a 5-2 thrashing in Germany, where only a couple of late consolation strikes salvaged some pride.

Mancini can still field a strong spine, including Gianluigi Donnarumma, Leonardo Bonucci, Jorginho, Nicolo Barella and Ciro Immobile.

Italy do look like a team in transition in other areas, though, especially with Marco Verratti and Lorenzo Pellegrini sidelined by injuries.

Games between these sides are traditionally tight and the last four meetings have been all square at the end of normal time.

However, we like Italy vs England odds.

England Odds

Gareth Southgate’s reign came under scrutiny for the first time during the summer, as England failed to win any of their four fixtures in this group.

After opening up with a 1-0 loss in Hungary, the Three Lions will not have been too concerned by draws against Germany and Italy.

However, an embarrassing 4-0 defeat by the Magyars at Molineux saw Southgate come under fire – and had alarm bells ringing regards Nations League relegation.

Midfielder Jack Grealish felt such criticism of the head coach was harsh, given Southgate’s impressive record up to that point.

Southgate led England on a run to the World Cup semi-finals four years ago, before last summer coming so close to Euro 2020 glory.

“I thought it was obviously harsh but sometimes that’s what you get if you’re English,” commented Grealish. “I’ve certainly had my fair share!”

As well as wanting to stay in the top tier of this competition, Grealish also suggested that playing for a place in the World Cup squad will spur the Three Lions on here.

The Manchester City ace added: “There’s obviously certain places and numbers that are still up for grabs.

“We have two matches now that are going to be very tough opposition and this is really like your pre-World Cup camp.”

Grealish, who scored for City against Wolves last weekend, has often been used as an impact sub by Southgate and 11/1 for him to score last is worth considering.

With the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka in form up front, let’s also add 9/1 for a 2-1 away win to our Italy vs England betting tips.
