Fiorentina vs Lech Poznan: Viola to entertain again

Kick-off: 1745, 20/04/2023

Stadium: Stadio Artemio Franchi

TV: BT Sport

Fiorentina made a statement of intent when beating Lech Poznan 4-1 in Poland in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side are the leading scorers in this competition, averaging almost three goals a game, and are also doing well in Serie A.

We reckon 17/20 for a home win and over 2.5 goals in the return fixture is hard to resist with our initial Fiorentina vs Lech Poznan prediction.

Cabral to continue hot streak

Fiorentina were ahead after just four minutes in the opening encounter after Nicolas Gonzalez hit the post from long range and Arthur Cabral pounced on the rebound.

Josip Brekalo then rattled the woodwork but Poznan responded bravely when Mikael Ishak nodded down a ball into the box and Kristoffer Velde fired in a fine strike.

Gonzalez headed I Viola back in front before half-time, though, and Giacomo Bonaventura and Jonathan Ikone added well-taken goals after the break.

Experienced defender Bonaventura declared: “We scored four goals and created even more chances.

“It was the perfect game, played in front of amazing fans. I really liked the atmosphere here.”

Monday’s 1-1 Serie A draw with Atalanta at this venue extended Fiorentina’s unbeaten run to 14 matches and they really do seem to have come good at the right time.

Cabral and Luka Jovic are having a personal duel at the top of the individual scoring charts with six goals apiece.

Jovic appears to have fallen down the pecking order of late, though, whereas Cabral is red hot with 10 goals in 14 outings after converting a penalty versus Atalanta.

Looking at the Fiorentina vs Lech Poznan odds, the 24-year-old Brazilian gets the nod to net first here at 7/2.

Gulf in class apparent

Poznan had been solid but far from spectacular prior to beating Djurgardens 5-0 on aggregate in the last round.

They are currently third in Poland’s top flight, 17 points adrift of leaders Rakow Czestochowa and nine behind Legia Warsaw.

The overall impression is that the Railwaymen had their limitations cruelly exposed by Fiorentina last week.

Lech looked vulnerable at the back whenever caught in transition and captain Ishak admitted: “The result was very disappointing.

“We tried to come back after going 1-0 behind and we did that. Unfortunately, we faced opponents who were in general much stronger than us.”

Head coach John van den Brom may see this as a damage limitation exercise and adopt a more cautious approach.

However, Fiorentina are playing with great freedom and should see it as another chance to have some fun!

Let’s add 10/1 for a 3-1 home win to our Fiorentina vs Lech Poznan betting tips.
