Kick-off: 2015, 26/01/2021

Stadium: St Mary’s Stadium

TV: BT Sport

Southampton have fared well in two recent meetings with Arsenal and get the nod to come out on top in Tuesday’s Premier League clash at St Mary’s Stadium.

Saints were the better team during a top-flight draw in London last month and knocked the Gunners out of the FA Cup at this venue on Saturday.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are hard to resist as 21/10 underdogs here for our opening Southampton vs Arsenal prediction.

A Look At Southampton’s Betting Odds

Southampton had 65 per cent of the possession in a 1-1 stalemate at Emirates Stadium, where Theo Walcott opened the scoring against his former club.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled things up after half-time but Gabriel’s 62nd-minute dismissal led to Saints applying plenty of late pressure.

Gabriel was again in the bad books over the weekend, as he turned a Kyle Walker-Peters cross into his own net when the Gunners were beaten 1-0 here in the cup.

After setting up a fifth-round trip to Wolves, Hasenhuttl said: “First half, we were very good, I think.

“With the ball, we had a few good moments and the decision making wasn’t always the best, otherwise we could have scored a little more.

“This is the FA Cup and this season we are in a better place in the table, we are not in a relegation battle, so we don’t have to rest any players.

“For the fans at home, it is always good for them to see that we take it seriously and we wanted to go through to the next round.”

Southampton’s squad is a bit stretched by injury issues, but they are playing on emotion and enjoyed a memorable triumph over Liverpool in their last league home match.

That was a fifth top-flight triumph at St Mary’s this season, where Saints have only lost to both Manchester clubs and Tottenham.

Another interesting option from the Southampton vs Arsenal odds, is 11/10 for the hosts to prevail in the ‘draw no bet’ market.

Last Saints line-up: Forster, Walker-Peters, Bertrand, Stephens, Bednarek, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Diallo, Ings, Adams, Walcott.

A Look At Arsenal’s Betting Odds

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta made seven changes for Saturday’s tie, as his team’s hold on the FA Cup came to an end.

However, club-record signing Nicolas Pepe and summer arrival Willian were among those to come in to a solid starting line-up.

Thomas Partey, Alexandre Lacazette and Bukayo Saka were introduced in the second half and the Gunners can have no complaints about crashing out.

“I’m very disappointed because we wanted to continue in the competition, we had a dream to do it again like last year and the dream today is over,” said Arteta.

“I am as well disappointed with the way we conceded the goal in an area where we know we shouldn’t be doing that.

“At the same time, I cannot fault the effort of the players, how they tried and how they went to get a goal in the second half.”

Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was absent for personal reasons but Arteta is unsure over his availability for this quick rematch.

“He needs to address that issue, we’ll see how it evolves,” added the manager. “We’re here and we have to support him and he needs to take the time that is needed, because that is a priority at the moment.”

Arsenal have been in good form in this competition, picking up 13 points from the last 15 available after beating Newcastle 3-0 last week.

We just feel Saints have got their number, though, so 10/1 for a 2-1 home win is added to our Southampton vs Arsenal betting tips.

Last Arsenal line-up: Leno, Bellerin, Gabriel, Holding, Soares, Elneny, Xhaka, Martinelli, Willian, Pepe, Nketiah.
