Vancouver suffered a setback on Saturday following a 3-1 home defeat to Minnesota, ending a six-match unbeaten streak in front of their own fans.
Lucas Cavallini’s fifth goal in seven games gave them the lead in the 66th minute, but United hit back with three goals in the final 19 minutes.
Vancouver, who beat Cincinnati in their only meeting to date in August 2019, are currently dealing with injury problems.
Boss Vanni Sartini told the club’s official website: “Let’s take three points tomorrow so nobody talks about injuries.
“I’m not religious, I don’t believe in curses. Soccer is a contact sport and if we want intensity in training, there’s always the risk that something can happen in training.
“I think we need to accept this risk because training would not be intense and we would not have a team that is not intense on the field.”
After six straight defeats on their travels, Vancouver have won two of their last three away outings.
They have scored in six of those, while Cincinnati have conceded in seven of their nine home fixtures.
