Chelsea have already thrashed Barnsley in the Carabao Cup this season so should be confident of a routine victory when they meet in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Kai Havertz hit a hat-trick as the Blues cruised to a 6-0 win at Stamford Bridge in September, although both clubs have had a change of manager since then.
We still expect the class of the Premier League side to be too much for the Tykes though and an away win by more than two goals at 19/10 is our first Barnsley vs Chelsea prediction.
A Look At Barnsley’s Betting Odds
Barnsley were overpowered by a strong Chelsea side in September’s meeting as Frank Lampard used the opportunity to improve his team’s match fitness after an almost non-existent pre-season.
Havertz bagged his first Chelsea goals while Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud also found the net so Barnsley will hope to have learnt some lessons from that meeting.
Their recent form does not bode well though, having picked up just two points from their last five Championship matches and failing to find the net in four of them.
They have slipped to 12th in the table and have a poor record against the top teams in the division, losing seven of their eight games against teams currently in the top six.
Their only goal in those fixtures came in a 1-0 win against Watford so an away win to nil appeals at 23/20 in the Barnsley vs Chelsea odds.
A Look At Chelsea’s Betting Odds
Thomas Tuchel will get his first taste of the FA Cup when his new side head to South Yorkshire but will surely be keen to maintain the momentum after starting his reign with three wins and a draw in Premier League action.
The 2-1 victory against Sheffield United on Sunday was the latest win when the likes of Kurt Zouma, Hakim Ziyech and Tammy Abraham were unused substitutes.
N’Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Marcos Alonso came off the bench in the second half so Tuchel has plenty of options if he opts to rotate his squad with half an eye on Monday’s Premier League home game against Newcastle.
Securing a top-four finish is presumably the priority for Tuchel but the FA Cup offers a realistic chance to quickly clinch a first piece of silverware in London.
Chelsea took until the 19th minute to break the deadlock in September’s meeting before Havertz doubled the lead nine minutes later.
The Blues also opened the scoring in the 18th minute against Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup while Abraham’s 11th-minute opener at home to Luton in the last round was followed by a second six minutes later.
With that in mind, let’s go for the visitors to score the most goals between 15:01 minutes and the half-hour mark at 11/5 as the last of our Barnsley vs Chelsea betting tips.
