We’re tracking all the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip as the Blues hope to overturn a FIFA ban covering the next two windows.
The London club have been censured over the signing of foreign under-18 players, but are determined to get that suspension overturned in time for a summer spending spree.
With Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi constantly linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, new recruits would be essential to any rebuilding process.
MAR 5: Chelsea face a wait to discover whether their one-year transfer ban will be temporarily lifted after lodging an appeal with FIFA.
“We can confirm that FIFA has received an appeal from Chelsea FC over the said case,” a FIFA spokesman said.
“As a general rule we do not make comparisons with previous cases.
“There is no exact timetable for the hearings and decisions taken by the FIFA appeal committee.”
FEB 26: FIFA’s proposed punishment hasn’t stopped Chelsea from being linked with AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli.
The 24-year-old has captained the Rossoneri since Leonardo Bonucci’s return to Juventus, having previously spent time with Roma and Sampdoria.
Having represented Italy at all age levels as a junior, the 6ft 2in defender has also picked up eight senior caps for the Azzurri.
FEB 25: Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin feels the Kepa Arrizabalaga substitution furore in Sunday’s EFL Cup final has put Maurizio Sarri’s position under even more scrutiny.
Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live: “What he has to do now is to make sure Kepa knows that he was in the wrong.
“They’re saying now it’s not a problem, it’s a little misunderstanding, etc. That absolutely does weaken his position and makes it look as if the player had more power than him.”
FEB 22: Chelsea swiftly announce their intention to appeal against being barred from making any signings until July 2020 as punishment for breaking FIFA regulations over the transfer of minors.
A club statement read: “Chelsea FC categorically refutes the findings of the FIFA disciplinary committee and will therefore be appealing the decision.
“The club wishes to emphasise that it respects the important work undertaken by FIFA in relation to the protection of minors and has fully cooperated with FIFA throughout its investigation.”
