The Blues are believed to be chasing players in those positions now that the club’s FIFA transfer ban has been lifted after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Asked about any Chelsea transfer news, assistant coach Jody Morris reported: “I think there’s maybe a couple of areas you’d be looking at.
“It will all depend on what the movements are from within the club as well.
“I’m not as privy to those conversations as the manager is, but I’m sure there will be work going on behind the scenes.
“There’s no point bringing anyone in who wouldn’t improve us. We’ve had to bat on without being able to bring in any players.
“So you have to view every player as a valuable asset. Everybody’s important; until they walk out the door.”
Ake was on Chelsea’s books from the age of 15 but struggled to break into the first team and had loan spells at Reading, Watford and Bournemouth before completing a permanent move to the Cherries.
Zaha has been courted by several London clubs since returning from Manchester United to Palace, with Tottenham also 2/1 to capture his signature.
Giroud set to leave Bridge?
As for possible departures, Olivier Giroud has already admitted he may have to seek a move away for more regular football.
The France striker has been forced to play second-fiddle behind in-form England hitman Tammy Abraham at Stamford Bridge this term.
Morris added: “It’s got to be for the benefit of the club. We can’t just let people walk out the door if that means we’re left short somewhere.
“Yes, you have to look at the individual as well, but I’ve got to say Giroud’s been nothing but a class act and a top professional since he’s been here, so I don’t envisage any issues from him on that front.”
