To celebrate the return of Europe’s premier club competition this week, our analysts have devised a fiendish Champions League quiz based on the best teams, players and nations to have graced it so far.

There are only 10 questions, making it the ideal challenge for a coffee break or half-time interval. Our Champions League quiz covers the history of the competition since it was renamed in 1992 and the questions range from the straightforward to the downright tricky, so a perfect score will be very difficult to achieve.
