Arsenal transfer news: Bookies’ favourites to join Gunners

With the summer window now open, we’re tracking the latest Arsenal transfer news to see which new signings are expected at Emirates Stadium.

After leading the Gunners to FA Cup glory following his mid-season appointment, Mikel Arteta will be keen to kick on with a rebuilding programme.

Bwin is offering odds on a number of transfer specials and these are the players rated most likely to switch to north London:

PHILIPPE COUTINHO @ 33/100

Enjoyed a hugely successful stint in the Premier League with Liverpool and is being widely tipped for a return to England after failing to fit in at Barcelona and only partially redeeming his reputation during a season on loan with Bayern Munich. The Brazil international’s elite vision and passing ability could make him the perfect playmaker to figure in behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

DAYOT UPAMECANO @ 2/1

The 21-year-old has represented France at a whole range of junior levels and was linked with Manchester United early on in his career. A 6ft 1in central defender, he has instead impressed with both RB Salzburg in Austria and Germany’s RB Leipzig, being short-listed for the 2018 Golden Boy award. Signing a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit would appear to have ruled out any imminent move, though.

JACK GREALISH @ 3/1

Another potential replacement for Mesut Ozil after showing plenty of potential for Aston Villa. The 24-year-old’s off-field behaviour has caused some controversy, but Arteta will have been impressed by the fighting spirit shown by Grealish in helping to keep Villa up.

JOHN STONES @ 4/1

Arteta has already done a good job in addressing Arsenal’s fragile defence but it would be a surprise if he doesn’t look to bring in reinforcements in this area. The Spaniard worked with Stones at Manchester City, where he has become surplus to requirements, and he would fit in nicely with the ethos of playing out from the back.

Wilfried Zaha transfer

WILFRIED ZAHA @ 4/1

The Gunners reportedly had a £40million bid for Zaha rejected last summer before bringing in Nicolas Pepe and could be set to renew their interest. Bukayo Saka is still very young at 18 to command a regular starting place and even though Ainsley Maitland-Niles did well in an advanced role down the left flank during the FA Cup final, Zaha is seen as a ready-made upgrade at an affordable price.
