John Herdman’s side qualified for Qatar 2022 by topping the CONCACAF pool ahead of Mexico and United States and are 201.0 for a shock outright triumph.
This will be just the second time they have featured on soccer’s biggest stage and things did not go well on the last occasion.
Canada lost to France, Hungary and the old Soviet Union at Mexico 86, failing to even score a goal.
However, the current squad will be confident of improving on that display after impressing in qualifying.
Defender Alistair Johnston declared: “We’re going there to compete, baby. We’re not going there just to show up. We’re gonna go there and we want to turn some heads.”
Midfielder Jonathan Osario added: “It’s a dream come true. It’s an incredible feeling.
“We all dreamed of this as little kids and as a Canadian that was impossible, but the impossible happened.”
After a campaign which began by beating the likes of Suriname, Bermuda, Aruba and the Cayman Islands, before a play-off win over Haiti, Herdman is also fired up for more glory.
He concluded: “It will change the country forever and our sport forever. We have got to capture the moment.”

The Reds were in Pot 4 for the group-stage draw alongside the lowest seeds, so the odds were stacked against them.
However, Canada will be quietly content at being paired with Belgium, Morocco and Croatia in Group F.
They may be 12.0 outsiders to top the table, but a price of 3.5 to qualify for the second round reflects the fact this is far from mission impossible.
When asked about his team’s draw, Herdman told the MLS website: “Brilliant. We wanted those type of games.
“I think you go into a World Cup, there are no easy matches and I think any team can beat any given team on a given date. That is just tournament football.
“I think Belgium, we know their quality with players like [Kevin] De Bruyne, [Romelu] Lukaku and what they have done on the international stage, and then the Croatians, who four years ago were the finalists.”

Qatar 2022 will kick off on November 21, with the group stage lasting 12 days and featuring four matches per day.
Canada’s opening match will be against Belgium on November 23 and this is rated their toughest test, with 9.25 available for a surprise success.

They will then face 2018 runners-up Croatia four days later before tackling Morocco on December 1.
Optimistic Canada supporters should note that the final is set to take place on December 18 at Lusail Iconic Stadium.
