Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund: Flying start for Tuchel

Kick-off: 1730, 01/04/2023

Stadium: Allianz Arena

Thomas Tuchel’s arrival can give Bayern Munich a crucial lift ahead of Saturday’s crunch Der Klassiker clash with Borussia Dortmund.

FC Hollywood are a point behind their great rivals in the Bundesliga table but have a great head-to-head record in this fixture.

They had claimed eight straight wins over Die Borussen prior to October’s 2-2 draw in Dortmund, when undone by a stoppage-time leveller.

Both teams have scored in the last seven meetings, so 7/5 for that to happen in a home win is our first Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund prediction.

Kahn calls for more quality

Bayern are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating PSG in both legs but it was their domestic form which cost Julian Nagelsmann his job.

They returned from the World Cup break with three straight draws, lost away to Borussia Monchengladbach in February and at Bayer Leverkusen last time out.

Even some of the Bundesliga wins had felt sloppy, notably a 5-3 defeat of Augsburg in their most recent match at Allianz Arena.

CEO Oliver Kahn told the club website: “Julian shares our aspiration to play successful and attractive football.

“But now we have come to the conclusion that the quality in our squad – despite the Bundesliga title last year – has come to the fore less and less often.”

Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 but was sacked by the new regime at Stamford Bridge last September.

His intensity is expected to make an instant impression on this talented squad, which had maybe started to take too much for granted.

FC Hollywood have won the last two home Klassikers by two-goal margins and are Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund odds.

Dortmund stepping up in class

Admittedly, Dortmund have been outstanding in Germany’s top flight since the restart, dropping just two points in 10 league games since the restart.

However, the highest-placed team they have faced in an away match has been Bayer Leverkusen in eighth.

A recent 2-2 draw at second-from-bottom Schalke came after a 2-0 loss to Chelsea in London which saw them crash out of the Champions League.

As has happened so often before, we just fear Die Borussen will have their limitations exposed on the biggest stage.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham looks world-class already at the age of 19 and is a sure-fire future superstar.

However, his supporting cast are either not quite up to the same level or in the latter stages of stellar careers.

Let’s add 19/2 for a 3-1 home win to our Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund betting tips.
