Blackburn vs Preston prediction, odds & betting tips

Kick-off: 1200, 10/12/2022

Stadium: Ewood Park

TV: Sky Sports

It’s derby day in Lancashire when Blackburn and Preston meet at Ewood Park as the Championship returns.

Both sides will be raring to go having signed off before the World Cup with a defeat, while Preston will want to erase memories of a 4-1 hammering the last time they met in April.

That could prove tricky as no team in the second tier has won more home games than Rovers and we like the 23/20 they chalk up another one as our first Blackburn vs Preston prediction.

Blackburn Odds

Table-topping Burnley sent Blackburn into the World Cup break on a downer by winning 3-0 at Turf Moor last month to inflict a ninth league loss on Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side.

Only two of those defeats have been on their own patch though, and it is their home form that has propelled them to third in the table ahead of entertaining their near neighbours.

Rovers have won eight of 10 on their own patch, scoring 17 goals and letting in just seven. Only born-again Coventry, on the rise after recovering from a miserable start to the campaign, have conceded fewer home goals (six).

There is the derby element to consider and Preston have won four of their last eight meetings but Blackburn took maximum points from both encounters last term and should have more than enough to get over the line in this one.

Looking at the Blackburn vs Preston odds, we like 5/2 for the home side to be winning at half-time and full-time.

Preston Odds

A peek at the league table shows Preston’s problem is getting the ball in the net.

Their 18 goals in 21 games is the second-worst record in the division. Cardiff are the most shot-shy mob in the Championship, having managed just 17.

Yet despite North End’s troubles in attack, they are only outside the play-off places on goal difference and they could be turning the corner in the search for their shooting boots.

They managed just four goals in the first 12 games of the season, never scoring more than once, before clicking in a 3-2 win over Norwich at Carrow Road.

Since then things have improved and they have scored in six on the bounce since losing at home to Stoke in mid-October, hitting the target 10 times.

Ched Evans claimed three of those and the other goals have been shared around so while picking a goalscorer might be tricky, we are happy to add the visitors to go down fighting to our Blackburn vs Preston betting tips.

A Rovers win with goals at both ends is 18/5 while 28/1 for a 3-2 home win is worth a small punt.
