The other team that regularly manages to reach the final is the Montenegrin team of Buducnost Podgorica. They have played several finals but only managed to win one.
A tough championship for the Balkan teams
The format of the Adriatic League begins with a regular season where all teams play each other in home-and-way matches over two legs. The season starts in September and ends in April of the following year.
The top two teams in the regular season advance to the semi-finals, and the next four teams advance to a preliminary round and play each other before the winners join the semi-finalists.
For the post-season games, the team that advances to the next round plays in a best three games format (1-1-1). The final is played in the best of five games.
The winner gets an automatic ticket to the Euroleague
The winner of the Adriatic League benefits from rights over the other teams in the competition and receives an invitation to the prestigious Euroleague of Basketball for the following season. You can make your bets on the Euroleague Basketball with bwin. In addition to an automatic seat for the winner of the season, the EuroLeague regularly gives out a wild card for a second Adriatic League team to join the league.
At the bottom of the table, the last team is automatically relegated to the second division. The teams finishing in second-last and third-last places play each other, with the losers also possibly being relegated to the second division.
