Tunisia and Australia meet in the second round of matches and both will fancy their chances of taking a step towards a longer stay at Qatar 2022.

The Tunisians have a point on the board after drawing with Denmark, hours before the Socceroos got their hardest match out of the way, going down 4-1 to France.

There is little to choose between them and a stalemate at odds of 11/5 is our first Tunisia vs Australia prediction.

Tunisia Odds

The goalless draw with Denmark earlier this week was the 10th time Tunisia have kept a clean sheet in their last 13 outings and before September’s meeting with Brazil, when they shipped five goals, they had conceded just three in 12 games this year.

It may not always be pretty and at times can be quite frustrating but the men from North Africa know how to dig in.

They had a couple of chances against the Danes and nice spells but the stats show they also had just 39 per cent of the possession and one shot on target. A point is a point though.

Tunisia manager Jalel Kadri said: “We started with a strong opponent and it is a very positive outcome.

“We are playing in a strong group, but our main objective is to get past this round and we are optimistic about doing that.”

It is a big ask given they face France last but it might be enough to get them on the front foot that bit more.

Issam Jebali had a goal ruled out for offside on Tuesday and in the 11/2 to open the scoring.

Australia Odds

Facing the champions in their tournament opener gave the Aussies a bit of a free swing and manager Graham Arnold admitted as much after the heavy defeat.

“The quality of the French team, they are the previous world champions for a reason,” he said.

“I thought that we started the game very well, physically though they are just so much bigger and faster and stronger than us, but overall the boys did all that they could and that was all I could ask.

“That is that game gone, it is good that the other game (Tunisia v Denmark) was a draw, now it is about winning on Saturday and we have to get ready for it.”

Australia did break the deadlock against the French but they have often struggled to score against better teams – they managed just one goal in five qualifiers against Japan, Saudi Arabia and Peru.

Arnold’s side might sneak one but it’s hard to see them getting more so a 1-1 correct score appeals at 11/2 and completes our Tunisia vs Australia betting tips.
