Spain let favourite backers down when drawing with Sweden but did enough in general play to make them worth sticking with versus Poland.

Poland have developed a nasty habit of disappointing at major tournaments and now face another uphill battle to advance after going down 2-1 to Slovakia.

Former Swansea and Leicester manager Paulo Sousa said: “We are all disappointed for the way we lost the game.
“In the first half, our defensive line was far away from our middle. To stop counter-attacks, we need to close this distance.
“The idea was to control the ball and create chances and we did do that but we could do better.
“We need to be better and show more courage because we cannot lose a game in this way.”
Star striker Robert Lewandowski put in a lacklustre display and it is hard to see Poland recovering from that setback.
