Spain vs Brazil: La Rojita tipped to strike gold

Kick-off: 1230, 07/08/2021

Stadium: International Stadium Yokohama

Spain were our pre-tournament pick for gold at the Tokyo Olympics and we’re sticking with them to edge out Brazil in Saturday’s final.

Both teams have had to work hard to get through the knockout stages but the best two squads in the tournament will feature in the decider.

We just feel La Rojita have more experience of playing together, with the bulk of this side having been European Under-19 Championship winners in 2019.

Punters can get 9/10 for Luis de la Fuente’s team to finish on top of the podium and that is our first Spain vs Brazil prediction.

A Look At Spain’s Betting Odds

Spain made no secret of their desire to do well in Tokyo, with several Euro 2020 fringe players joining up with Real Madrid duo Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos.

It has been a bit of a grind to get to this stage, with La Rojita struggling to translate lots of possession and good field position into goals.

However, they topped Group C thanks to beating Australia 1-0 in between draws with Egypt and Argentina.

Ivory Coast gave them a real scare in the quarter-finals but were eventually beaten 5-2 in extra-time, with Rafa Mir hitting a hat-trick.

Spain again showed there are no concerns over their fitness when finally wearing down hosts Japan in the semis with a lovely 115th-minute Asensio strike.

We’re hoping everything clicks in the final for this talented unit and 2/1 for them to oblige in normal time is worth the extra risk from the Spain vs Brazil odds.

A Look At Brazil’s Betting Odds

Brazil are the defending champions and have won a medal at the last three Olympics, so it was no surprise to see them take things seriously as well.

Former Barcelona great Dani Alves has proved an inspirational choice as captain and still has great energy at the age of 38.

Everton striker Richarlison was the star of the group stage, hitting a hat-trick in a 4-2 triumph over Germany and a double as Saudi Arabia were beaten 3-1.

There was a 0-0 draw with Ivory Coast in between, though, and the goals have dried up again during the knockout rounds.

Hertha Berlin forward Matheus Cunha earned the Selecao a narrow 1-0 win over Egypt but penalties were needed to break the deadlock versus Mexico.

Thankfully, Alves, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, Bruno Guimaraes of Lyon and Borussia Dortmund’s Reinier all converted their spot-kicks.

Brazil will always be hard to beat but we just believe Spain have the players to control the midfield and that may test the Selecao’s resolve.

Let’s add 13/2 for La Rojita to win a tight tussle 1-0 to our Spain vs Brazil betting tips.
