Fulham’s improved performances have not quite turned into the points they would have liked but they have the chance to put that right against rock-bottom Sheffield United.
The Cottagers have only lost one of their last six games but four draws in that time mean they start the weekend still six points from safety.
Recent displays have been encouraging, though, and a home win at 6/5 is our opening Fulham vs Sheff Utd prediction.
A Look At Fulham’s Betting Odds
Fulham had to settle for yet another draw at Burnley on Wednesday when Ola Aina’s 49th-minute opener was quickly cancelled out by an Ashley Barnes equaliser.
It was still a step in the right direction at least, having beaten Everton 2-0 last weekend, and victory on Saturday would see them put more pressure on 17th-placed Newcastle before the Magpies face high-flying Manchester United a day later.
“It’s a massive game for us now,” said Fulham boss Scott Parker. “The gap was 10 points, it’s now six. It’s going in the right direction and we’re going into Saturday trying to win that game.
“Our main focus is how we perform to get results in this division but of course the main focus (is to reel in Newcastle).
“I believe we’re very competitive in this league. I feel every game we play, we can win, I honestly do.
“I feel like my team can really go and get results in this division, we’ve proven that. We’ve only won all three all season but we’re very hard to beat and we have got quality.”
January signing Josh Maja has improved Fulham’s attacking threat, scoring both goals at Everton and looking lively at Turf Moor.
Looking at the Fulham vs Sheff Utd odds, he appeals at 5/1 to score the opening goal.
Last Fulham line-up: Areola, Tete, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Aina, Loftus-Cheek, Lemina, Reed, Decordova-Reid, Lookman, Maja.
A Look At Sheffield United’s Betting Odds
Sheffield United are a further eight points back than Fulham and are rapidly running out of time if they are to produce a miracle escape.
Three wins since the turn of the year gave them a glimmer of hope but last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at West Ham was another nail in their coffin.
“There is only us who can lift us,” said manager Chris Wilder. “There’s not going to be 3,000 punters behind the goal on Saturday at Fulham, so we can’t rely on that.
“I’m not so sure if we carry on the results that they would be behind us anyway, and rightly so, so we have to take that criticism fair and square on the chin.
“We have had a lot of credit in the bank but that’s running thin in my opinion.”
United have at least remained competitive in most games and eight of their defeats have been 1-0, so we’re backing the same outcome again at 11/2 as our final Fulham vs Sheff Utd prediction.
