Kick-off: 1400, 31/03/2019
Stadium: Olimpico
Napoli have beaten Roma at Stadio Olimpico for the past two Serie A seasons and are fancied to come away from the capital city with maximum points again on Sunday.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are 13 points above the Giallorossi this term and look in much better shape heading into this fixture.
We’re snapping up 5/4 for an away win as our opening Roma vs Napoli prediction.
A Look At Roma’s Betting Odds
Roma are having a moderate campaign in Italy’s top flight and a Champions League loss to Porto paved the way for Eusebio Di Franco’s departure.
Former Leicester and Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri enjoyed a home win over Empoli after stepping in to fill the void, but that honeymoon period proved a brief one.
The Giallorossi went into the international break on the back of a 2-1 defeat at 15th-placed Spal, where both Justin Kluivert and Stephan El Shaarawy were brought off at half-time.
Edin Dzeko almost grabbed an equaliser when his shot was blocked on the line, but that was a big blow to Roma’s top-four hopes.
Roma rarely draw a blank up front on home turf, but they do seem fragile in defence at the moment, having also lost 3-0 at Lazio and 3-1 at Porto this month.
Looking at the Roma vs Napoli odds, we reckon 11/4 for an away win and both teams to score is the way to go here.
A Look At Napoli’s Betting Odds
Napoli’s faint title hopes were dashed when starting the month with a 2-1 home loss to Juventus, but they did pull the gap back to 15 points by beating Udinese 4-2 last time out.
There were some concerns when Udinese came from 2-0 down to draw level and then goalkeeper David Ospina, on loan from Arsenal, collapsed after a blow to the head and came off just before the break.
However, that injury proved to be nothing serious and second-half goals from Arkadiusz Milik and Dries Mertens put Napoli back in control.
Ancelotti’s men are seven points clear of Inter in the race to be best of the rest again, having finished as runners-up twice in the past three years.
Poland striker Milik has really impressed with 19 goals in all competitions, but Mertens is slightly preferred in the goalscorer markets due to his head-to-head record against Roma.
The Belgium star bagged a brace when Napoli won 2-1 at this venue a couple of seasons ago and has scored in the last two encounters at Stadio San Paolo.
Let’s finish off our Roma vs Napoli betting tips by taking 9/2 for Mertens to break the deadlock.
