Peru vs Colombia: Los Cafeteros to clinch third place

Kick-off: 0100, 10/07/2021

Stadium: Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha

TV: BBC Digital

Colombia have looked very solid during the Copa America knockout stages and are rated a percentage pick to edge out Peru in the third-place play-off.

Some of the star names will be missing from both teams but Los Cafeteros appear to have the better strength in depth at this point.

Punters can get 20/23 for them to prevail in normal time in Brasilia and that is our first Peru vs Colombia prediction.

A Look At Peru’s Betting Odds

Peru did post a 2-1 victory over Colombia during the group stage but lost 3-0 in last month’s Lima World Cup qualifier.

Los Incas came through an entertaining quarter-final clash with Paraguay, winning on penalties after a 3-3 draw in normal time.

They were decidedly second best versus Brazil in the semis, though, and were rated as fortunate to escape with just a 1-0 defeat.

Getting Andre Carrillo back from suspension is a boost but key forwards Jefferson Farfan, Paolo Guerrero and Edison Flores have been sadly missed.

Turin-born Gianluca Lapadula has been a useful find, however, and the 31-year-old, who has a Peruvian mother, can be expected to play with energy and enthusiasm again.

Looking at the Peru vs Colombia odds, we reckon he is worth a saver to score at any time at 3/1.

A Look At Colombia’s Betting Odds

Colombia were forced to leave out James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao but can still boast a number of proven performers playing in Europe.

Everton’s Yerry Mina and Davinson Sanchez of Tottenham could feature in defence ahead of former Arsenal keeper David Ospina.

Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado, Atalanta duo Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel, plus Porto forward Luis Diaz have all contributed towards a decent campaign.

Los Cafeteros knocked out an in-form Uruguay side on penalties following a goalless stalemate.

They then drew 1-1 with Argentina after Diaz cancelled out an early Lautaro Martinez strike, only for a shoot-out to go against them this time.

That form is good enough to make them worthy favourites here, though, as long as head coach Reinaldo Rueda takes this tie seriously.

Even if some changes are made, Miguel Borja would be a useful player to bring in, having impressed with Brazilian side Palmeiras and domestic outfit Junior in recent years.

He scored in the group game against Los Incas and appeals at 4/1 to grab the last goal here in our Peru vs Colombia betting tips.
