Manchester City took a huge step towards a third successive Premier League title – and maybe even the treble – in midweek and look in no mood to let it slip from here.
City cut the gap to leaders Arsenal to two points with two games in hand after an emphatic 4-1 victory which had all the hallmarks of a title-winning team.
It is a brave punter who opposes them on current form and 5/6 for Pep Guardiola’s men to score in both halves is our opening Fulham vs Man City prediction.
Fulham fail to fire
Fulham are on course for a top-half finish and can be more than satisfied with their season having been expected to be battling for survival.
They did have their limitations exposed in midweek though as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa and failed to manage a shot on target.
Boss Marco Silva said: “First half was not good enough from ourselves, we were too shy, not aggressive enough. We conceded a completely sloppy goal. The first half was not at our level, the standards.
“Second half, even if we didn’t create enough chances to equalise, at least we were completely different, our pressure was completely different…(but) our front line didn’t create enough.”
Silva confirmed Willian had to withdraw from the starting line-up after feeling a hamstring issue in the warm-up, and that Harry Wilson had been substituted in the 17th minute due to feeling unwell.
With Aleksandar Mitrovic suspended, the Cottagers could again lack an attacking threat and an away win to nil looks a fair price at 21/20 in the Fulham vs Man City odds.
Last Fulham line-up: Leno, Tete, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson, Reed, Wilson, Solomon, Pereira, Palhinha, James.
Treble target for City
City are dreaming of matching Manchester United’s treble-winning achievement in 1999 and are odds-on favourites to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
They have three league fixtures before attention turns to facing Real Madrid and the trip to Craven Cottage plus home games against West Ham and Leeds look the perfect opportunity to turn the screw.
There seems little chance of any complacency creeping in though given how long City have been chasing the Gunners.
After Wednesday’s win, defender Manuel Akanji said: “It was a big game and a massive win for us. It helps us a lot but there’s still so many games to play.
“Seven games – still 21 points to grab so we can’t relax now on this win. We’ve got to go on Sunday and win the next game against Fulham.”
City are firing on all cylinders in front of goal and have scored at least three goals in eight of their last nine matches in all competitions. The only exception was a 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich when they were already 3-0 up on aggregate.
Fulham lost 3-0 at home to Arsenal last month and the same score here at 7/1 completes our Fulham vs Man City betting tips.
Last City line-up: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Stones, Akanji, Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne, Haaland, Grealish, Silva.
