Arsenal’s stunning start to the season is showing signs of slowing down as their busy schedule continues with the visit of Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners start the latest round of matches top of the Premier League but last weekend’s draw at Southampton was followed by a Europa League defeat at PSV Eindhoven.
They should still be too strong for Forest though so a home win and under 3.5 goals at 11/10 is our opening Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest prediction.
Arsenal Odds
Arsenal will be determined to get back to winning ways to prove that the last two results are merely a blip rather than a sign of more serious problems.
The Gunners needed just a point on Thursday to secure top spot in their Europa League group but were beaten 2-0 in the Netherlands as Joey Veerman and Luuk de Jong scored the goals.
The hosts also had three goals disallowed for offside as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men confirmed their own place in the knockout stages.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “I’m very disappointed. It’s the end of a long run where we won a lot of games and we have to reset.
“We were nowhere near our level and we know that in Europe it’s very difficult to win.
“We didn’t get any control. We didn’t get the ball in the areas we wanted. We gave so many balls away, which allowed so many transitions, which was what they were looking for whenever they got in the right structure.”
The best hope for Arsenal here is a fast start. In the first half an hour of Premier League matches this season they have scored 10 goals without reply and have been leading in four of their last five games.
Looking at the Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest odds, the hosts to be ahead after 30 minutes is available at 21/20.
Last Arsenal line-up: Ramsdale, Tierney, Saliba, Holding, Tomiyasu, Odegaard, Vieira, Lokonga, Xhaka, Martinelli, Nketiah.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (calf) is being assessed while goalkeeper Matt Turner (groin) is expected to remain sidelined.
Gabriel Magalhaes limped off in Thursday’s defeat and is a doubt, with Emile Smith Rowe (groin) and Mohamed Elneny (hamstring) definitely out.
Nottingham Forest Odds
Results elsewhere meant Forest stayed bottom of the Premier League last weekend despite a stunning 1-0 victory over Liverpool.
The surprise three points at least meant Forest have not been cut adrift and they are only below Leeds and Wolves on goal difference.
The writing looked on the wall for Forest and boss Steve Cooper when they conceded 16 goals in the space of four games but since the 4-0 drubbing at Leicester they have let in two goals in four matches.
Scoring on their travels remains an issue though, having only managed one away goal and that was at Everton in August.
We’re not convinced they can find the net here either so a 2-0 home win at 11/2 completes our Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest betting tips.
Last Forest line-up: Henderson, Cook, Williams, Aurier, McKenna, Gibbs-White, Lingard, Kouyate, Yates, Freuler, Awoniyi.
Forest could have Lewis O’Brien in contention after he returned to training following an illness. Moussa Niakhate (hamstring) and Omar Richards (leg) are still on the comeback trail.
