Fulham are making a much better attempt at Premier League survival than in recent seasons and look more like top-10 contenders than relegation battlers.
The Cottagers start the weekend in seventh place and are providing plenty of entertainment with only matches involving Manchester City averaging more goals per game.
There have been 24 goals scored in six matches at Craven Cottage so over 3.5 goals looks a value pick at 19/10 as our opening Fulham vs Everton prediction.
Fulham Odds
Fulham have 18 points on the board already and could be forgiven for dreaming of more than survival after back-to-back wins.
They followed a 3-0 victory at home to Aston Villa with a 3-2 win at Leeds despite going behind to an early header from Rodrigo, with Aleksandar Mitrovic equalising with a header before half-time.
Leeds had most of the possession in the second period as they strived to regain the lead, but there was no end product and they were punished by Bobby Decordova-Reid’s header and Willian’s sliding finish.
Leeds substitute Crysencio Summerville reduced the deficit in the first minute of added time but it was too little too late.
Fulham boss Marco Silva, who led the Cottagers straight back to the top flight as Championship winners last term, is playing down his side’s current heady heights in the table though.
“It doesn’t mean anything for us,” he said ahead of the meeting with his former employers. “For sure, the smile on our fans’ faces will be a little bit different.
“It will give our players a bit more confidence as well, but for us, it doesn’t change anything.”
Fulham’s matches are often topsy-turvy affairs and the victory at Leeds was the second time this season they have won after conceding first, while they have also lost twice after opening the scoring.
Looking at the Fulham vs Everton odds, that leads us to think either team to come from behind and win is worth a small play at 11/2.
Last Fulham line-up: Leno, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson, Reed, Wilson, Pereira, Palhinha, Mitrovic, Decordova-Reid, Willian.
Kenny Tete will return to the squad after missing Fulham’s last five matches with a hamstring injury. Silva has no fresh injury concerns.
Everton Odds
The return to fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin bodes well for Everton and possibly England.
In last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace the 25-year-old scored for the first time since the goal which kept the Toffees in the Premier League last May, coincidentally also against Palace and in front of the Gwladys Street end.
It was only his fourth appearance of the season and the first time he has made back-to-back starts since a knee injury on the eve of the campaign.
On what Calvert-Lewin could do for Everton, having missed much of the previous relegation-threatened campaign with injury, boss Frank Lampard said: “I don’t think you can look away from the fact of what a £60million, £70m, £80m striker can do for you.
“The impact he can have on confidence and the team and what he offers is a huge deal. I don’t want to look too far ahead but if we can keep him fit that will be a positive.”
Everton are yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels though while Fulham are the clear leaders in the Premier League’s both teams to score table with goals at both ends in 10 of their 12 matches.
Backing both teams to score in the first half has paid out in three of their last four matches so 3/1 for the same bet completes our Fulham vs Everton betting tips.
Last Everton line-up: Pickford, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, Coleman, Coady, Onana, Gueye, Calvert-Lewin, Gordon, Gray, Iwobi.
Nathan Patterson is back in the squad after overcoming an ankle injury. Lampard has no new injury worries but defenders Yerry Mina (calf) and Ben Godfrey (broken leg) remain sidelined, as does Andros Townsend (ACL).
