Burnley have been held to a draw against two of the teams below them in their last two home games and will hope it is third time lucky when West Brom arrive at Turf Moor.
This looks a must-win fixture for West Brom, though, given they start the weekend 12 points from safety, so this could be a more open game than might usually be expected.
The Baggies have failed to keep a clean sheet since November and both teams to score at 19/20 is our opening Burnley vs West Brom prediction.
A Look At Burnley’s Betting Odds
Burnley’s injury list is worryingly long once again but five points from their last three games mean they are eight points clear of the relegation zone.
They had been on top in a tight game against Fulham on Wednesday when they fell behind to a deflected goal in the 49th minute but Ashley Barnes deservedly brought them level three minutes later.
The Clarets lost Johann Berg Gudmundsson to a hamstring injury in the first half while his replacement Robbie Brady was withdrawn after 65 minutes due to ankle trouble.
A number of first-team players are already on the sidelines and manager Sean Dyche admitted his exasperation with the situation, blaming the hectic schedule in place this season.
“The challenge we’ve had with injuries has been unbelievable,” he said. “We get people fit, then they go down injured.
“I’ve been here eight and a half years, I’ve got all the stats, facts and analysis and I’ve never seen anything like it. We’ve had training schedules for eight years so we know what works for us.
“The game schedule is the only thing we can look at, there have been way more games and strange kick-off times – that’s not a gripe but it must have had an effect. But I’m surprised it has had this big of an effect.”
In the circumstances, evens for a home win looks a bit short in the Burnley vs West Brom odds and a draw looks much better value at 12/5.
Last Burnley line-up: Pope, Lowton, Taylor, Tarkowski, Long, Cork, Gudmundsson, McNeil, Westwood, Barnes, Rodriguez.
A Look At West Bromwich Albion’s Betting Odds
The appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager in December has made little difference to West Brom’s fortunes and just two wins all season mean they are running out of time to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United was encouraging at least, especially the number of chances created against a top-four team.
“I’m very pleased,” said Allardyce. “Excellent application, excellent in terms of how we limited Manchester United to very few opportunities and then the other way really, really pleased in the first context of how many chances we created.
“But, unfortunately, disappointed we didn’t convert more of them because we would have actually won this game on chances created and how good the chances were.”
Allardyce has not been able to shore up the defence and Albion have conceded two goals in each of their last four away games, plus seven out of 12 this season.
With both teams pushing for victory, a 2-2 draw at 15/1 is our final Burnley vs West Brom prediction.
Last West Brom line-up: Johnstone, Bartley, Ajayi, Townsend, Peltier, Gallagher, Snodgrass, Maitland-Niles, Yokuslu, Pereira, Diagne.
