Manchester City are purring at present and are hot on the heels of Premier League leaders Chelsea ahead of this clash with Brighton at the Amex.
The Citizens are worthy favourites for this trip to the south coast and will be full of confidence after thrashing Club Brugge 5-1 on Tuesday night.
With the Seagulls drawing a blank in their last two games, we’ll go for an away win to nil at 5/4 as our first Brighton vs Man City prediction.
A Look At Brighton’s Betting Odds
Graham Potter’s side have been one of the surprise packages this season and although drawing their last two, are still in fourth position in the table and just two points behind visitors City.
Visiting manager Pep Guardiola has been a long admirer of Potter and the English coach continues to impress with the way he sets out his team.
One catalyst to Brighton’s league position has been the form of striker Neal Maupay, but it is slightly worrying that the south-coast side have failed to score in their last two, which is not ideal with the champions in town.
This will also be a real test of the Seagulls’ well-schooled defence and although the final score might not read as emphatic as some of Manchester City’s recent victories, the visitors are backed to come out on top at the final whistle.
Looking at the Brighton vs Man City odds, we like 23/4 for City to win 2-0.
Last Brighton line-up: Sanchez, Cucurella, Dunk, Duffy, Burn, Veltman, Gross, Lallana, Moder, Maupay, Trossard.
Adam Webster could be available after returning to training this week having missed the past five games in all competitions.
Yves Bissouma and Enock Mwepu are also in contention having recovered from knocks to be unused substitutes last week but Danny Welbeck (hamstring) and Steven Alzate (ankle) are still out.
A Look At Manchester City’s Betting Odds
Guardiola’s men are unbeaten in the league since losing to Tottenham on the opening weekend and have made some serious statements in recent weeks.
The Spaniard outwitted his nemesis Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge before avoiding defeat in an Anfield classic a week later.
Since then they have convincingly beaten both Burnley and Brugge, and their fluid forward line is creating plenty of opportunities in front of goal.
If their attack gets all the glory, it is their backline that is the bedrock of City’s success.
The joint-best defence in the division, they have conceded only three goals and have kept six Premier League clean sheets.
They are yet to concede a first-half goal but have only been ahead at the break in three of their eight Premier League matches.
Patience may be the key here and the last of our Brighton vs Man City betting tips is 10/3 for Draw HT/City FT, which would have paid out in last month’s wins at Leicester and Chelsea.
Last Man City line-up: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Grealish, Rodri, De Bruyne, Silva, Foden, Mahrez.
John Stones, not in the squad in Belgium, is available to make the trip.
Ederson and Gabriel Jesus – who linked up with their team-mates in Brugge after missing last weekend’s win over Burnley following periods of isolation – are also available.
Ferran Torres is the only absentee as the Spain international continues his recovery from a metatarsal injury.
