Peterborough get the nod at a tempting 16/1 to win the title under serial promotion winner Steve Evans in our League One betting tips for 2018/19.
The Scot failed to guide Posh into the play-offs last season after leaving Mansfield to replace Grant McCann in February.
But Evans has been backed by chairman Darragh MacAnthony in the transfer market and has recruited heavily in a bid to end Posh’s five-year absence from the Championship.
Evans knows how to take a team up, winning back-to-back promotions to the Championship with Rotherham, and had a brief spell in charge of Leeds in the second tier.
Peterborough have let Gwion Edwards join Ipswich, while dangermen Jack Marriott and Marcus Maddison are also expected to leave.
But they have shown they mean business this summer with several signings, including Jason Cummings, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, Matt Godden, Adam King and Alex Woodyard. Odds of 5/1 they secure promotion is worth support.
It is unknown how Sunderland and Barnsley, relegated from the Championship last term and priced at 3/1 and 7/1 respectively to win the title, will react to their new managers in Jack Ross and Daniel Stendel.
League One promotion betting
Burton, under Nigel Clough, are well placed to target an immediate return to the Championship.
The Brewers waited too long to start their great escape last season, winning three of their last four games, and it was not enough to preserve their status.
Clough has kept a relatively similar squad this summer, also adding a couple of fresh faces, and is a safe pair of hands to plot Albion’s return.
Scott Fraser and David Templeton have made the long trip down from Scotland while Liam Boyce is expected to score goals after missing much of last season through injury.
Taking all that into account, Burton at 7/1 to win promotion looks a decent shout.
Luton are a team full of confidence after finally ending their stay in League Two and are 4/1, along with Charlton and Portsmouth, to win back-to-back promotions.
The Hatters may have lost Olly Lee to Hearts on a free transfer but the arrival of Jorge Grant from Nottingham Forest is sure to excite the Town fans.
Grant was too good for League Two last season during a loan spell with Notts County and adds to a quality squad Nathan Jones has at his disposal.
League One relegation betting
Walsall, priced at 7/4 along with Gillingham, could be candidates for relegation this term under Dean Keates.
The Saddlers only just stayed in the division last season, finishing two points above the relegation zone, and have lost their best player this summer.
Midfielder Erhun Oztumer rejected a new deal and opted for a move to the Championship with Bolton, meaning a struggle could be on the cards.
He said: “It’s emotional leaving the club but hopefully they understand that it was an opportunity I couldn’t say no to.”
Blackpool finished 12th last season on their return to League One but have also seen a couple of key personnel depart.
Rotherham made a double raid for defender Clark Robertson and striker Kyle Vassell, leaving the Tangerines 11/4 to drop down.
Accrington are favourites for relegation at 5/4, yet Stanley often punch above their weight, while fellow newcomers Wycombe are 13/10 with AFC Wimbledon 9/4.
