Following Andrea Pirlo’s surprise appointment, bwin is offering a number of Juventus next manager odds on how he will fare in the hot seat.
Maurizio Sarri paid the price for a Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon and Pirlo quickly replaced him on a two-year contract.
The 41-year-old is 3/5 to lead the Old Lady to a 10th straight Serie A title triumph in his debut season in charge.
Punters can get 9/1 he helps Juve secure a first Champions League success since 1996 and 15/1 he lifts both of those trophies.
Pirlo made 164 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2015 and received an immediate promotion after being named as Under-23s manager 10 days earlier.
A club statement read: “Now begins a new chapter of his career in the world of football. As it was said about a week ago: from Maestro to Mister.
“He will be the coach for the Juventus people, as the club has decided to entrust him with the technical leadership of the first team, after having already selected him for Juventus Under-23.
“This choice is based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead, from his debut on the bench, an expert and talented squad to pursue new successes.”
Pirlo is 11/5 to win his first three Serie A matches as head coach and 1/2 to still be in charge at the start of the 2021/22 season.
Who will be Pirlo’s transfer targets?
Renowned as a silky playmaker with a superb range of passing, excellent close control and a specialism for set-pieces, Pirlo enjoyed a trophy-laden career with club and country.
He won Serie A six times and lifted the Champions League twice across successful spells with AC Milan and Juve.
His 116 international caps place him fifth in the all-time list of appearances for Italy.
Undoubtedly the pinnacle of his career came in 2006 when he lifted the World Cup after converting the opening penalty in the shoot-out win over France in Berlin.
He retired in 2017 following a spell with Major League Soccer side New York City.
After Sarri’s tactics failed to impress in Turin, harnessing the slickness which defined his playing career to create an easy-on-the-eye style of play would certainly help Pirlo satisfy demanding fans.
Playing to Cristiano Ronaldo’s strengths will be crucial, with the talismanic 35-year-old having two seasons left on his contract.
Ronaldo, who scored a remarkable 37 club goals last term, admitted the club “must always think like the best in the world” in the aftermath of the Lyon loss.
The Portugal international clearly remains hungry for success and Pirlo must rejuvenate his squad without adversely affecting his star man.
Bwin also has a number of transfer specials relating to players Pirlo may bring in, with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba 2/1 to return to the club.
Other potential targets are Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 10/1, Moussa Dembele at 10/1 and Wolves striker Raul Jimenez at 14/1.
Real Madrid misfit Luka Jovic is 10/1 for a switch to Turin, with Tottenham star Harry Kane also quoted at 10/1, Gareth Bale on 20/1 and Kylian Mbappe at 33/1.
