AC Milan vs Inter Milan prediction, odds & betting tips

Kick-off: 1700, 03/09/2022

Stadium: San Siro

TV: BT Sport

The first Milan derby of the season arrives with both teams nicely placed in the top three of the Serie A table, losing just one of eight games between them so far.

Two of last term’s four meetings ended all square and another cagey contest is on the cards, especially with Champions League football returning next week.

We reckon 3.3 for another San Siro stalemate represents good value and that is our initial AC Milan vs Inter Milan prediction.

AC Milan Odds

The Rossoneri claimed Scudetto glory last season, finishing two points in front of their city rivals to end over a decade-long title drought.

Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli moved on over the summer while Charles De Ketelaere and Divock Origi were the major arrivals.

Milan began their campaign by beating Udinese 4-2 on home turf before coming from behind for a solid 1-1 stalemate at Atalanta.

Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud then netted in a 2-0 win over Bologna at this venue but Tuesday’s goalless draw at Sassuolo was a little disappointing.

Mike Maignan pulled off a fine penalty save from Domenico Berardi in the first half and the Rossoneri showed plenty of resolve in defence.

However, Stefano Pioli will have been concerned by a lack of sparkle going forward, even if he did make several changes for that trip.

Chances may again be few and far between here, so AC Milan vs Inter Milan odds.

Inter Milan Odds

The Nerazzurri reacted to surrendering their crown by bringing back Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on loan as well as extending Joaquin Correa’s stay.

Lukaku got off to a flying start when scoring after just two minutes in the season opener at Lecce, although it took a stoppage-time strike from Denzel Dumfries to secure a 2-1 win.

Spezia were then brushed aside 3-0 at this venue but a 3-1 loss at Lazio burst Inter’s early bubble.

Lukaku also suffered a muscle injury in that contest and will be out until after the international break.

Tuesday’s 3-1 home win over Cremonese was a nice boost to morale, though, with Lautaro Martinez on target for the third straight game and Correa doubling his tally.

Simone Inzaghi told the club website: “I’m very happy because we’ve won a tricky fixture against a team that have picked up fewer points than they’ve deserved so far.

“The lads’ approach to the game was good. In just a few days, we were able to prepare for a tough match and that’s because we’re a mature team.”

He added: “Last season, this group won two trophies and fought until the very end; they know what to do.”

Inter only conceded one first-half score in four derbies last season – and that was a Stefan de Vrij own goal.

Let’s add 1.75 for the Nerazzurri to keep a clean sheet in the opening period again to our AC Milan vs Inter Milan betting tips.
