World Cup price boosts

Kick-off: 1900, 29/11/2022

Stadium: Ahmad bin Ali Stadium

TV: BBC1

England and Wales were both below par in their last World Cup matches but the Three Lions are fancied to show their true worth in Al Rayyan.

They have won six straight head-to-head encounters with the Dragons, including a 3-0 cruise in the most recent meeting two years ago.

With just one goal conceded in those fixtures, 23/20 for Gareth Southgate’s side to claim another clean-sheet victory is our first Wales vs England prediction.

Wales Odds

Wales showed plenty of spirit in the second half of an opening 1-1 draw with USA, when Gareth Bale grabbed a deserved equaliser from the penalty spot.

However, they were second best throughout a 2-0 loss to Iran, even if Wayne Hennessey had been sent off before they let in both goals late on.

“This is a hard one to take,” said manager Robert Page. “I’ve said to them before every game: ‘Go and show the world what you show us every day,’ and that is not a true reflection of that team.

“They got their true rewards, they deserved that defeat. We fell well below the standards that got us to the World Cup.”

The Dragons can still sneak through if they beat England and Iran vs USA is a draw.

“We want to finish the competition on a high,” added Page. “It’s out of our hands for going through, but we want to finish with a good performance and a win.

“We’re low at the moment, but we’ll get them back up for a tough game to finish with.”

Switching from an early kick-off in 30 degrees heat to a night match should help Wales play with more energy.

Even so, we’re going with the Three Lions to prevail 2-0 at 11/2 from the Wales vs England odds.

England Odds

England were among the most impressive teams in the first round of group-stage fixtures when crushing Iran 6-2.

They were simply outworked by USA during a lethargic goalless stalemate on Friday night, though.

The Three Lions were lucky to escape with a point after Christian Pulisic hit the bar and boos rang out from the crowd at the final whistle.

Southgate insisted: “There are very few teams I’ve known over the years who get nine points in their group.

“When you’re in a World Cup, there are different challenges, different types of opposition.

“You’re never going to cruise through games like we did the other day and I knew on the back of that type of performance it’s very hard to hit that sort of height.”

However, one plus point was the form of Harry Maguire, who showed he is capable of dealing with the aerial threat provided by Kieffer Moore.

England can also take heart from their exploits at Euro 2020, where they laboured to a 0-0 draw against Scotland in between wins over Croatia and Czech Republic during the group stage.

Southgate has plenty of options if deciding to freshen things up and Phil Foden is one player many people will be hoping gets a call-up.

The Manchester City ace made an instant impact off the bench against Iran and has the youthful exuberance to exploit a Wales outfit which is ageing in key areas.

Let’s add 9/2 for Foden to score the last goal in this game to our Wales vs England betting tips.
