Cardiff vs Crystal Palace: Eagles can soar in south Wales

Kick-off: 1730, 04/05/2019

Stadium: Cardiff City Stadium

TV: BT Sport

Crystal Palace are fancied to send Cardiff down by coming out on top in Saturday evening’s Premier League clash in south Wales.

The Bluebirds had a decent home record over the first two thirds of the season but have since lost four of their last five fixtures at this venue.

With all the pressure on Neil Warnock’s men, we reckon the Eagles can pick them off and 33/20 for the visitors to prevail is our initial Cardiff vs Crystal Palace prediction.

A Look At Cardiff City’s Betting Odds

Cardiff are four points behind Brighton with two rounds of games left to play after losing 1-0 at already-relegated Fulham last weekend.

That was seen as a winnable opportunity for City, but they showed little attacking intent before being undone by a superb Ryan Babel strike on 79 minutes.

“It was a great finish and I can’t complain about that,” said Warnock. “That’s the Premier League for you.

“He was probably the only player on the pitch who could have scored it and you get what you pay for.

“For me, it brings home the Emiliano Sala tragedy. I thought he could have got us 10 goals. It’s been blow after blow for us.

“We’ve been kicked in the teeth up hill and down dale, but I just told the players to keep going. They are trying the best they can.”

Sadly, there does now seem to be a defeatist attitude at Cardiff and we can’t see them lifting their spirits here.

Looking at the Cardiff vs Crystal Palace odds, there is value appeal in 4/1 for an away win by more than one clear goal, as Fulham missed several other good chances against the Bluebirds.

Last Cardiff line-up: Etheridge, Peltier, Bennett, Morrison, Ecuele Manga, Bacuna, Gunnarsson, Camarasa, Hoilett, Mendez-Laing, Niasse.

Harry Arter is still struggling for Cardiff due to a calf strain, but the Bluebirds should have striker Kenneth Zohore available after a knock.

A Look At Crystal Palace’s Betting Odds

Palace finished last season strongly with a hat-trick of victories and have been playing well again in the closing stages of this campaign.

The Eagles followed up a 3-2 triumph at Arsenal with a gutsy goalless stalemate against in-form Everton at Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson admitted the Toffees were the better team, with both Bernard and Lucas Digne hitting the woodwork.

But he added: “We had to fight and dig in at times and we’ve come away with a 0-0, so it’s a good point.”

This is a better chance to open up and Palace have done well against lower-ranked clubs of late, beating Fulham, Burnley, Huddersfield and Newcastle since the start of February.

Luka Milivojevic netted in three of those victories and 40/1 for him to break the deadlock in a 2-0 away win completes our Cardiff vs Crystal Palace betting tips.

Last Palace line-up: Guaita, Van Aanholt, Dann, Wan-Bissaka, Kelly, Milivojevic, Meyer, Kouyate, McArthur, Zaha, Benteke.

Palace striker Christian Benteke is out after suffering a blow to his cheekbone. Jeffrey Schlupp (ankle), James Tomkins (groin), Mamadou Sakho (knee) and Pape Souare (hamstring) are also sidelined.
