Stadium: Brentford Community Stadium

Brighton did the double over Brentford last season and look in better shape again this term ahead of Friday night’s Premier League clash.

The Bees have enjoyed a couple of flashy home wins over Manchester United and Leeds but their recent results offer cause for concern.

We reckon 27/20 for an away win is the percentage pick for our first Brentford vs Brighton prediction.

Brentford Odds

Brentford, who hammered United 4-0 in August, were in a bullish mood after beating Leeds 5-2 to make it nine points from six top-flight fixtures.

However, the Bees had their limitations exposed in a 3-0 home loss to Arsenal before drawing 0-0 at Bournemouth in a low-quality affair.

Thomas Frank’s side must now recover from last week’s 5-1 thrashing at Newcastle, when they were guilty of some sloppy defensive errors.

Frank declared: “It’s about how we handle setbacks, how we bounce back, so it’s all about that and I’m convinced we’ll bounce back, not even a doubt, not at all.”

But he admitted: “Going back to the game, it’s very, very very, very – that was four verys – hard to win a football game if you make one, two, three, four mistakes.”

The Bees will no doubt be more competitive on home turf, but 29/10 for Albion to win by one goal, as they did here 13 months ago, appeals from the Brentford vs Brighton odds.

Last Brentford line-up: Raya, Hickey, Henry, Pinnock, Mee, Ajer, Jensen, Dasilva, Mbeumo, Baptiste, Toney.

Brentford will remain without captain Pontus Jansson. The centre-back is still struggling with a hamstring injury and will stay on the sidelines with midfielder Christian Norgaard (Achilles).

Forward Keane Lewis-Potter is back after a spell out with a foot issue but back-up goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha recently sustained an ankle problem that will keep him out for a number of weeks.

Brighton Odds

Brighton suffered a double blow when losing 1-0 at home to Tottenham and then discovering that midfielder Enock Mwepu has retired from football at the age of 24 due to a heart condition.

That ended the honeymoon period of new boss Roberto De Zerbi after starting his reign with an excellent 3-3 draw at Liverpool.

However, the former Sassuolo head coach refused to be too downbeat after the Spurs defeat, with Lewis Dunk, Solly March and Danny Welbeck having chances to equalise.

De Zerbi admits it is tricky to follow such a successful predecessor as Graham Potter but is very happy with the squad he has inherited.

“I think that in these two games you have seen already something from my side,” commented the Italian.

“It is clear that I have found already a team that is strong, that knows how to play and is very brave on the pitch.”

Kaoru Mitoma has yet to get off the mark for the Seagulls but created a big impression as a second-half substitute versus Liverpool and Tottenham.

He almost produced a wonder goal in the 69th minute against Spurs but Hugo Lloris dived at his feet after a mazy run had seen him dribble past Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.

Mitoma netted for Japan in last month’s friendly win over USA and was also on target in June’s victory versus Paraguay.

The 25-year-old could be worth a speculative punt to strike last in this game at 11/1 in our Brentford vs Brighton betting tips.

Last Brighton line-up: Sanchez, Webster, Dunk, Estupinan, Veltman, March, Mac Allister, Gross, Caicedo, Trossard, Welbeck.

Jakub Moder remains sidelined as he recovers from a long-term knee injury.
