Arsenal have had plenty of time to stew on their defeat at Manchester United and will now look to get back to winning ways in a London derby at Brentford.
Most of their strongest line-up have not seen action since a 3-1 loss at Old Trafford ended their perfect start to the campaign, although a 2-1 Europa League win at FC Zurich boosted morale.
They were the better team for large parts of the game against United and we’re backing them for the win here at 82/100 as our opening Brentford vs Arsenal prediction.
Brentford famously began life in the Premier League last season with a 2-0 victory in this fixture much to the delight of their ecstatic fans.
That set the tone for the season as they easily avoided relegation in 13th place and there seems no danger of second-season syndrome given the Bees start the weekend in eighth place having lost just once.
A favourable fixture list has helped though and they are yet to face any of last season’s top five.
The 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United was a stunning result but United played a significant role in their own downfall and that was the only clean sheet that Brentford have managed so far.
Five of their six games have produced goals at both ends while over 3.5 goals has paid out in four of them so goals look likely on Sunday.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has five goals already and was selected in the England squad this week but we do have some concerns about the defence.
Looking at the 31/20 for over 3.5 goals seems a decent price.
Last Brentford line-up: Raya, Hickey, Henry, Mee, Jansson, Jensen, Mbeumo, Baptiste, Janelt, Toney, Lewis-Potter.
Arsenal’s winning start was ended by United but the result could easily have gone the other way.
Gabriel Martinelli had already had a goal controversially ruled out by the time new signing Antony gave United a first-half lead.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners returned from half-time with the bit between their teeth and deservedly equalised through Bukayo Saka, only for United to twice hit them on the break through Marcus Rashford.
Much like Brentford, Arsenal have benefited from a decent start to the season in terms of fixtures and the international break is followed by matches against Tottenham and Liverpool which may give us a better indication of whether they can stay in the title hunt.
And similarly, they have looked better going forwards than in defence, having conceded in the wins against Leicester, Fulham and Aston Villa.
They have been more consistent than their hosts though and a 3-2 away win at 18/1 is worth a small play as the last of our Brentford vs Arsenal betting tips.
Last Arsenal line-up: Turner, Tierney, Gabriel, Holding, Tomiyasu, Vieira, Sambi Lokinga, Xhaka, Martinelli, Nketiah, Marquinhos.
