Scotland need a win to get their Nations League campaign back on track but they will have to improve on their most recent showing after they were booed off the pitch against the Republic of Ireland.

Steve Clarke’s side were all over the place in Dublin at the weekend as they went down 3-0 – just after Armenia lost by the same margin to Ukraine.

The visitors should still have enough to get the job done in Yerevan, though, and an away win with both teams scoring at 3.8 is our first Armenia vs Scotland prediction.

Armenia Odds

One man who is almost certainly looking forward to the end of this international break is Armenia boss Joaquin Caparros.

He described the Nations League schedule as “barbaric”, with his team facing Ireland at home, Scotland away and Ukraine in Poland before they bring down the curtain on a frantic fortnight on Tuesday night.

They got off to a flyer against the Irish, winning 1-0 as their opponents struggled in the Yerevan heat, but losing 2-0 to Scotland and 3-0 to Ukraine means that since the June international break in 2021, Armenia have won just two games – the other victory was a friendly against Montenegro – drawn four and lost eight.

They have only scored seven goals during that run and never more than one in a match, but the hosts could find themselves with a chance or two against a far-from-steady-looking Scotland side.

Tigran Barseghyan is 5.5 to score at any time and we think he is worth adding to our Armenia vs Scotland betting tips.

Scotland Odds

The long-suffering members of the Tartan Army will admit that watching Scotland isn’t always easy and trying to forecast what will happen on the pitch recently has been mission impossible.

They went into the World Cup play-offs on a high after a fine run of form to finish their qualifying group for Qatar 2022, six straight wins sealing second place and the tie with Ukraine.

Then they flopped at Hampden. They bounced back with the win over Armenia a few days later and things were looking up again. Then Dublin happened.

Top spot in their Nations League group would put the Scots in Pot 2 for Euro 2024 qualifying and there’s also the play-off route available to section winners.

Winning the mini league was always the aim but Clarke knows that task is now a lot tougher.

He said after the Ireland game: “It’s going to be a bigger challenge than it was before we started this game. We have to go there (Armenia) and we have to get three points.

“If we’d got three points today we would still be going there under pressure to get three points. We want to do as well as we can in the group and to do that we have to get three points every time we go on to the pitch.”

Scotland should be able to bounce back against a team 55 places below them in 92nd in the FIFA rankings, so we’re adding 13.5 for a 3-1 win for the visitors from the Armenia vs Scotland odds.
