Accrington only booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round on Tuesday night so have had little time to prepare for the visit of Premier League side Leeds.
To make matters worse, Stanley needed extra time to get past National League outfit Boreham Wood so the quick turnaround will do them no favours as they look to cause an upset.
Leeds were given a scare at Cardiff in the last round but that should ensure there is no complacency and an away win by more than one goal at 6/5 is our opening Accrington vs Leeds prediction.
Accrington Stanley Odds
Accrington have continued to overcome financial limitations to be competitive since reaching League One but are scrapping for survival this season.
They are hovering just one place above the relegation zone and made hard work of getting past Boreham Wood, with Tommy Leigh’s 97th-minute penalty in the replay proving decisive.
The non-league side piled the pressure on in the final 10 minutes but could not find the elusive equaliser.
Accrington manager John Coleman said: “I am delighted with the result but I can’t say I am delighted with the game. There was nothing in the game and it was harsh for either team to lose.
“But we have got to improve, we have to find a way at home to try and emphasise and impress our style on the game, although that will be tough against Leeds. We will try though.
“It is a massive boost to be in the fourth round and financially it might allow us to get one or two other reinforcements to the squad.
“Saturday is all about a day out for the fans, that will take care of itself.”
Stanley have struggled against the best teams in League One this season, picking up just one point from 10 matches against the current top eight.
They failed to score in six of those games, with Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich and Derby all keeping clean sheets here, so an away win to nil looks worth the extra risk at 9/5 in the Accrington vs Leeds odds.
Leeds United Odds
Leeds are on a six-match winless run in the Premier League but recent draws with Newcastle, West Ham and Brentford proved they are competitive, while there was a lot to like about their performance despite a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
They were heading out of the FA Cup when they trailed 2-0 after an hour at Cardiff but rescued a replay when Sonny Perkins equalised in stoppage time.
The rematch was much more one-sided as Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford both bagged a brace in a 5-2 win at Elland Road.
Bamford has come off the bench in the last three matches so may get the chance to start, while boss Jesse Marsch now has plenty of attacking options.
The Whites broke their club record transfer fee this month when signing striker Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim in a deal which could rise to £36million.
The France Under-21 international will be vying with Bamford and Rodrigo for the central striker’s role, while Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra, Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson and Crysencio Summerville give Marsch plenty of other options.
Let’s take 5/2 for the Whites to win both halves while a 3-0 victory at 10/1 completes our Accrington vs Leeds betting tips.
