England could do with a win to ease any Nations League relegation fears but there is little to suggest Hungary will simply roll over at Molineux.

The Magyars prevailed 1-0 when these teams met in Budapest recently and held the Three Lions to a draw in last October’s Wembley World Cup qualifier.

Punters can get 1.87 for the visitors with two goals start and that looks a solid bet for our first England vs Hungary prediction.

England Odds

England improved on that Puskas Arena defeat when securing a 1-1 stalemate with Germany in Munich, thanks to Harry Kane’s late penalty.

However, there was not much to like about a drab goalless draw with Italy at this venue on Saturday.

Mason Mount hit the bar and Raheem Sterling missed a sitter in front of empty stands over the weekend, but chances were few and far between.

“I think we had two or three very good chances that we have to take,” commented Gareth Southgate.

“You don’t get loads of chances in games against the top-level teams, that’s how it is.

“We’d like to have created more, given the amount of possession we had, and we definitely used the ball better in the back two thirds of the field than we did the other night, so that was pleasing.

“But in the end, we’ve not got the goal to make the difference. We’re very, very reliant on Harry and Raheem for our goals at the moment and that is a concern.”

Kane will return to the starting line-up for this contest, but England’s energy levels appear too diminished to justify such short odds.

We reckon 2.37 for the scores to be level at half-time is a more tempting option for our England vs Hungary betting tips.

Hungary Odds

Hungary began this campaign as big outsiders to do well but have shown the same kind of spirit which earned them draws against France and Germany at Euro 2020.

The Magyars followed up their win over England by going down 2-1 away to Italy but then took a point off Die Mannschaft again in Budapest.

In front of a vociferous crowd of almost 56,000, Zsolt Nagy put Hungary ahead after just six minutes when firing into the roof of the net.

Some sloppy defending allowed Jonas Hofmann to race onto a long ball over the top and equalise soon after, but the Magyars held their own from then on.

Admittedly, Hofmann wasted another counter-attack but Attila Fiola forced Manuel Neuer to make a great save at the other end.

Head coach Marco Rossi told UEFA: “The boys played really well. It wasn’t easy, it took a lot of energy.

“The most important thing is that no-one can be sure of getting points against us and they have to show our team respect.

“We’ve shown that we can run, fight, give our heart and soul. This is what I like best about the team; that they never give up, they always fight.”

Dominik Szoboszlai caught the eye of some shrewd judges when scoring 10 goals for RB Leipzig last season and has also shone on the international stage.

He netted a last-minute winner versus Iceland in the Euro 2020 play-offs and struck from the penalty spot against England this month.

Looking at the England vs Hungary odds, the 21-year-old is an attractive 6.0 to add to his tally of big goals here.
