With Ferrari gearing up for their 1,000th race, we’re offering some sentimental support for Sebastian Vettel in our Tuscan Grand Prix predictions.
The four-time world champion is going through a tough break-up from the Italian team but has still scored points in four of this year’s eight contests.
That makes bwin’s price boost of 3/1 for Vettel to add to that tally at Mugello a tempting option from the Tuscan Grand Prix odds.
Admittedly, the German finished down the field in 13th at Spa-Francorchamps and then retired after only six laps at Monza.
However, surely we can expect an improved performance on a circuit owned by Ferrari and used extensively by the Scuderia for testing.
Before the last couple of horror shows, Vettel scored six points for securing seventh place in Barcelona, another track where winter practice sessions take place.
Brake problems caused his early retirement last weekend, while teammate Charles Leclerc also failed to finish that race.
However, the Monegasque had moved up to fourth place before crashing out due to his own mistake, so this car is still capable of being relatively competitive.
Vettel said: “We have to keep our heads up, even if it is difficult. Now we head to Mugello, a completely different track and maybe there we could be in a bit of a better place. Hopefully we can have a clean weekend.”
Team principal Mattia Binotto added: “Mugello is an important milestone for us. I think it’s important to prepare well for there.”

Pierre Gasly shook up F1 by winning at Monza for Alphatauri, with McLaren’s Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll of Racing Point completing an improbable podium.
Lewis Hamilton had looked on course to post his sixth victory of the year after establishing a commanding 11-second lead with just 20 of 53 laps on the board.
But he missed two red crosses to inform him that the pit lane was closed and a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for the infringement saw him end up in seventh.
“Huge congratulations to Pierre, it’s a fantastic result for him and it’s great to see such a young podium,” said a gracious Hamilton.
“I didn’t see the boards saying the pit lane was closed because I was following the safety car delta on my dash, so I take responsibility for that.
“My race wasn’t meant to be, but I still got some good points. We’ll move onto the next one and I look forward to it.”
