We’re eyeing a near-4/1 treble with this week’s Super League predictions as clubs look to recover from another thrilling Magic Weekend at St James’ Park.
Round 16 has thrown up some interesting contests, with lots at stake at both ends of the table as we move towards the business end of the regular season.
St Helens to win at Castleford @ 57/100
Cas secured a good win over Leeds at the Magic Weekend but were previously beaten 36-18 by Saints in the Challenge Cup on home turf. The Tigers were also thrashed 46-6 on the road by this week’s opponents back in Round 1 and we’re backing Justin Holbrook’s side to confirm their superiority once more. St Helens didn’t have to work too hard to see off Widnes in Newcastle.
Salford +2.5 points versus Huddersfield @ 7/10
Salford’s big pack struggled in the heat of the Magic Weekend when beaten 26-12 by Catalans but conditions should be more suitable at AJ Bell Stadium, where there is invariably a cool breeze to keep the temperature under control. The Red Devils came out on top when these sides met at John Smith’s Stadium in Round 11, with Jake Bibby scoring two of their five tries in a 30-12 victory.
Catalans Dragons +4.5 points versus Leeds @ 4/5
The Rhinos have been hit by yet more injury problems since the Magic Weekend, with skipper Kallum Watkins and prop Nathaniel Peteru now facing lengthy spells on the sidelines. Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Liam Sutcliffe, Mitch Garbutt and Brad Singleton were already out and several more key players are doubtful for the trip to Perpignan. The Dragons can kick on from a confidence-boosting win over Salford in Newcastle.
