It’s the Magic Weekend for our in-form Super League predictions and we are eyeing a 5/1 treble if all three handicap betting tips oblige at St James’ Park.
Followers of our selections pocketed an 11/2 windfall prior to the break for Challenge Cup action, so let’s hope for more success in Newcastle.
Widnes +22.5 points against St Helens @ 4/5
We were on the ball when backing Catalans Dragons with a similar start versus Saints a couple of weeks ago and the hope is that Widnes will also be able to put in a respectable performance on a fast pitch which should suit their nimble backs. The Vikings will have to watch out for a red-hot Ben Barba following his hat-trick versus Castleford but do have players who can score points themselves.
Leeds -2.5 points versus Castleford @ 17/20
Cas have been far from convincing of late and followed up emphatic Super League losses at Wigan and Hull by going down 36-18 to St Helens in the cup on home turf. Being without playmaker Luke Gayle through injury has compounded the problems caused by Zak Hardaker’s off-field indiscretions and the Tigers currently look tame compared to last season’s heroics.
Hull KR +8.5 points against Hull @ 4/5
Rovers took a hiding off Wakefield a fortnight ago but had previously run Leeds close in a 20-18 defeat and will be fired up for this derby clash. Hull will be without eight first-team players due to injury or suspension, with several more key figures joining half-backs Marc Sneyd and Albert Kelly on the sidelines after a feisty Challenge Cup win at Featherstone.
